Today we’d like to introduce you to Mrs. Inyang (N-Yon) Telfair.
Hi Mrs. Inyang (N-Yon), please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I sure can, thank you for this opportunity. Well, eighteen years separated my siblings and me, causing me to grow up as an only child. Detroit, MI in the mid-late 80s and 90s was rough. My Mamma worked two jobs my entire life, modeling hard work, endurance, and strength. She kept me busy with college preparatory programs, music lessons, ministry work, and family travel to keep me off the streets. My Mamma also taught me that the best place to be is in the will of Yahweh. I got to where I am today because it all started with Yahweh’s grace, mercy, and my Mamma’s prayers! As a product of Detroit Public Schools, I am a wife, Mamma of three children and two dogs, a graduate of Murray State University with my BSB and MBA, a business owner, a poet, a playwriter, and a published author. My accomplishments, successes, blessings, and favor come from my strong faith in the Abba Father. I am who I am today because my Maker never gave up on me, my Mamma never stopped praying for me, my husband continues to support me, and my children are a reflection of my reason why.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, although I sometimes wish it was. However, after wishing my life was free of trials and tribulations, I almost instantly felt convicted. Why? Because as a believer in Christ, I know you can’t be triumphant without first going through trials. I’ve struggled with depression, anxiety, self-worth, financial hardship, disappointment, and unemployment. With every struggle came a newfound strength.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I pride myself on being a lifelong learner. I specialize in effective communication and am known for assisting anyone who is starting the journey of discovering their purpose. I am most proud of the strength of my faith, my children’s development, and the business ventures my husband and I have begun. There are a few things that set me apart from others. I have current and previous experience in the corporate world, I have and currently run a successful business, I’ve been in a healthy marriage for over 20 years, I have young adult and school-aged children, I know what it takes to start from scratch, and I am not afraid to share my highest highs and my lowest lows.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t believe in L.U.C.k. In my opinion, luck means Life Under Chaos. There will be seasons of bad and good things. It is important to learn from all the things. Every situation, mistake, bad judgment, good judgment, right turn, wrong turn, good encounter, bad encounter, missed goal, accomplished goal, short step, or giant leap is an opportunity to learn, apply, grow, and then repeat. It’s never about claiming bad or good luck, because when you start blaming a misfortune, mishap, blessing, or an elevation on having bad or good luck. You begin to set your life on a cycle of chaotic thinking, and since everything you do and or say starts with the mind, you will undoubtedly set yourself up to live your life under chaos.
