Today we’d like to introduce you to Minyar Dhahbi
Hi Minyar , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I discovered my passion for art during my teenage years, as I began exploring creativity through practice and self-reflection. By immersing myself in learning, reading, and honing my ability to observe the world around me, I nurtured a deep drive to push my thinking beyond conventional limits. This early curiosity laid the foundation for my artistic journey, helping me grow not just as an artist but as someone dedicated to forging creativity in others. This is how I’ve arrived at where I am today—teaching, creating, and using art as a powerful tool for cultural change.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Was it a smooth road? Definitely not. As a self-taught artist, I faced challenges that pushed me beyond my comfort zone. While self-teaching gave me freedom and minimized external judgment, it also required an immense amount of self-discipline and belief in my vision, regardless of the outcome. The hardest part was maintaining the right mindset through setbacks—trusting in my willpower and allowing my imagination to guide me. But through it all, I held onto my belief in myself, knowing that art is as much about persistence as it is about creativity.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As an artist, architect, and scénographe, everything I do is driven by the same passion—using art to inspire creativity and provoke thought. Whether it’s through my art lessons, my podcast, or my architectural work, my goal is always to challenge how people perceive art and the world around them. In my teaching, I focus on nurturing creativity, helping students not just develop skills but adopt a mindset where art is a way of thinking and living. It’s about forging the next generation of Tunisian artists who are unafraid to push boundaries.
Similarly, my podcast is a platform for open discussions about art and its influence on culture. I’m proud of how these conversations inspire cultural and ideological shifts, creating a space for art to spark real change. Across all my work, what sets me apart is my belief that art is not just about creation—it’s about transformation, both personally and culturally. My passion for this vision fuels everything I do.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something people may not realize about me, just from my aura or from afar, is how strong my will truly is. Beneath the surface, I am fiercely determined and brave, always willing to fight for what I believe in. While I may have a dreamy, creative side, I am also deeply pragmatic and grounded in my approach to life. I hold strong opinions and am not afraid to stand by them, even in the face of challenges. It’s this blend of imagination and pragmatism that drives me forward and gives me the strength to pursue my vision, no matter the obstacles.
