Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcos Luis
Hi Marcos, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Born into a family that encouraged the arts, I began as an entertainer at an early age doing talent shows and school plays.I hosted a kids Television show in grade school which started me on my way. . From there, playing musical instruments: flute, clarinet, saxophone, upright bass became my artistic focus. . From there many shows , modeling, concerts, professional stage productions, independent films and National commercials based in Chicago, IL eventually lead me to NYC with the possibility to do it more..
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Life is full of challenges and obstacles but the key is to be patient on some and aggressive on most. Since we don’t know exactly what to do at any particular time, we have to assess a situation and then proceed with caution. For me, there have been numerous challenges such as the pandemic which preventing my business OneMicNite from doing its weekly #LiveSeries artist performances. However, in this time of quarantine I was able to use this opportunity to create a virtual podcast platform to continue supporting many independent artists and creatives not only locally by globally to share and document their personal life journeys and broadcast their art around the world. This actually expanded my platform’s reach to worldwide exposure and presence around the globe..
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a multimedia artist and I enjoy wearing a lot of hats in the Creative Field. For me, art is limitless and I don’t subject myself to boundaries in storytelling for creating or doing projects. I am an actor of stage and film, photographer, a trained dancer , singer, and Host of a podcast and events, as well as an entrepreneur . I’m fortunate to have won awards and traveled the World showcasing my art in films, singing in front of thousands in Colombia representing The United Stated , and at the UN in front of a 40 piece orchestra , photography , and modeling among other things. My business is called OneMicNite which I created as a platform to showcase independent artists of all types in #LiveSeries open mic or showcase performances. Over the Pandemic I transformed the same brand into a virtual podcast which documents the journey and lives of creatives for inspirational value, live OneMicNiteArtist music/art Sessions and also concentrates on discussions of Mental Health Awareness and finding solutions. Equally important receiving an International Award for my Humanitarian efforts with organizations such as Healing The Children has fueled my passion for Life and ignites my soul.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
The biggest credit for me being an actor goes to my teacher at Northwestern University, Ann Woodworth who helped me hone my craft with preciseness, honesty and integrity. My biggest inspiration from my Mother, who herself was an actress who allowed me the chance at my own creativity while sacrificing herself financially for me to attend the best educational institutions and an opportunity of being a member of school Sports Teams and school Arts programs . Most importantly all the friends who have been with me on this journey, supporting for many years as well
as the new acquaintances I make along the way. For this I give Thanks..
