Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelia Reed
Hi Kelia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well I started back in 2018 after I moved to Kentucky from Kansas after quitting my job for good maybe a year or two before that. I honestly started posting content on YouTube because I wanted free wigs because I use to have to wear my sisters because she always had wigs that I couldn’t afford at the time. Fast forward to this year 2024 and I’ve gone viral on almost every platform I never thought I’d be on today, which includes YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, & Instagram. I’ve had an instagram since 2012 but never posted my personality or thoughts there until 2022 and within that first couple of months I had mad 100k followers off of my thoughts so I just kept going. I posted on TikTok first where I went viral then decided to move over to instagram where I continued almost each time I posted.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has surprisingly been a smooth road besides the negative feedback I get. Other than that I never knew I’d get to where I am today & how easy it is for me to get noticed on the internet when I intentionally thought it would be hard for years until I actually started posting and started to see the results from me just putting myself out there. I use to struggle with the hateful comments but now I know that most of those people are just bots or people that are genuinely unhappy with their lives so it makes it easy to ignore them and keep on going because if it’s not for them then it’s definitely meant for someone else. I get a lot more love than hate now or maybe I just choose not to acknowledge the hate lol either way I love the process of it all.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I make videos that I think people should hear, either they can relate or not relate but I mainly come to tell my truth and hopefully give others the safe space to tell theirs. I think what sets me apart from others is that I am genuinely myself, on and off of the internet. I do not sugarcoat things and I don’t try to all of a sudden become someone I’m not once I’m in front of the camera. What you see is truly what you get with me and I think that’s why most can relate to my content.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Never take things personally. You will not always be liked by everyone and that is ok because the internet is not real life so never let it interfere with your self esteem or make you feel like you’re not good enough because no matter what anyone says.. you matter and always will.
