Today we’d like to introduce you to Jillian White
Jillian, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always had a passion for standing out and expressing myself. Art and design have always been an outlet for my creativity and emotion, and through slowly finding my art and design style, I’m able to find myself more and more. I grew up in Parkland, Florida, where I began establishing my art brand through shows, online selling, and commission work. Then, after receiving my cosmetology license and Associates degree, I moved to New York where I currently study fashion design at FIT. Even though I now share my time with sewing, art will always have a permanent residence in my life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been less than smooth, but I’m thankful to have parents who have supported my endeavors and who continue to be my #1 fans to this day. It has always been my goal to be where I am currently, but the process of getting here wasn’t linear, and I still have a long way ahead of me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do fine art, mainly pen on paper or paint on canvas, but I also have a coloring book I had published a few years ago. The theme of my work is incredibly sensual and feminine, with tons of florals (of course!). I am also an aspiring designer who has had work on display, done custom pieces, and even found one of my designs on Netflix (which I’m most proud of). Although it seems that I wear countless hats, which can be overwhelming, I focus on having an overall theme of femininity to bring it all together. I believe my boldness and personal style is what mainly sets me apart from others.
What were you like growing up?
I was always an introverted extrovert. I didn’t have the biggest friend group growing up, but always wanted to light up the room when I was with them. I was one of the kids who would doodle in their workbooks and wear weird outfits, and even when I eventually broke out of my shell, I never let my passion for creating disappear.
