Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Effect
Hi JESSE, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My special effect journey started off with me using it as a coping mechanism for my depression. I would do the makeup instead of physically harming myself.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I’m located in Jamaica and even though I’m recognize as the most sought after sfx makeup artist in my country. The demand for my service/ skill is not a lot. Therefore I’m having to pave my own way in the industry.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My name is Jessica Morris, mostly known to the internet and makeup world as JESSE EFFECT.
JESSE EFFECT is mostly known for special effect makeup; considered as the most sought after special effect makeup artist here in Jamaica.
However I offer 3 other services such as kids face paint, barber service and beauty makeup.
I am most proud of the journey of my career. Taking something I used to prevent certain harm to myself in such a down period of my life; to making it into a business.
I believe I’m recognize mostly for my determine attitude towards my career along with few other outstanding business attributes such providing clients with premium services, amazing work ethics within my field and so much more.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My gratitude goes out to my father. He has been the backbone for my business. He supported me from the beginning especially after seeing what I could create. He also supported me financially when I needed the extra funds to gather other materials for work, he is always willing to be my model to practice on before and even after I started gaining clients.
I also have to show gratitude to everyone on my Instagram page that has been following me from day one. The fact that they mention me even if they don’t necessarily require the service it’s still a support. My number one supporter/ teammate which is my partner Oyeth Reid. He has supported me from the very beginning before JESSE EFFECT was even JESSE EFFECT. He kept my newspaper article from my very first article in the gleaner and also said I photoshop my work as jokes. To this day he supports me a whole lot and that’s very important to me cause your partner can either help to build you to your greatness or break you down.
In regards to mentor I haven’t had any however I do look up to other business people/ young/ older than I am to grasp certain business information. In regards to special effect makeup and so on I’ve just done my own research and most stuff comes to me naturally.
