Today we’d like to introduce you to Eboni Williams
Hi Eboni, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story of purpose work started the day I was born. June 17, 1983. Being born differently able and my brothers weren’t. So my purpose started there. To show me as well as my family that limits only exist where we let them. My mom always told me from the time i was old enough to truly understand that every one has some type of different ability mine was just visible. Now even though i never question why I was born with cerebral palsy. Im not going to say my journey to self acceptance of my different ability was easy because it definitely wasn’t there were plenty moments where i didn’t like what I saw and I try to hide certain parts of me. But as I got older and I continue to battle with confidence issues and at the same time I was always willing to try new things. And as I continue to leave this thing called life I would always wonder why I never saw someone like myself doing the things that i wanted to do. And that right there taught me in order to see what I was looking for I had to be that no matter what it would look like for me even if I was doing it afraid. I’m so grateful for my mom because she never told me no I dont think you should do that even if she was scared she still allowed me to live. The disappointment of a teacher telling me that I was a endangerment to children that I want to teach just because I walked with a cane was something that pushed me beyond measure. And at the age of 33 is when i really tapped into what God had place me here to be a voice of encouragement and slowly but surely ebonipministries was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
the road to discovering me and my purpose has definitely not been easy. but I’m grateful the bible tells us that trails and tribulations are of this world. and a times I would feel that all i had was trails and tribulations because all a lot of people would see when the same me was a young lady/women with cerebral palsy. Instead of trying to get to know Eboni the women and how my mind really worked. But I had to always keep in the back of my mind what my mom always told me that someone has something different about them mine is just visible. So I had to get to a put where I tuned out the naysayers and the noise and push pass all the no’s and the doubt people had for me and even that I had in myself and keep in mind what God put inside me to birth
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What i am know for is someone who is differently able because I dont say disable. Because when you look up the word disable it says broken or unable to. And im neither of those. I might have to do things a little differently to get them done but they get done. That encourages people differently able and not to take the limits off themselves and tap into what God has palce inside of them. I do that by inspirational videos quotes books and whatever else God tells me to give my yes to.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Covid 19 showed me how important it really is to have interaction with the outside world is. And how we do take the simple things of life for granted. And how it is also important to love yourself and be okay with spending time with just you. And covid also made people face themselves in ways they never have before.
