Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Weimer
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Currently, I am a Social Media Manager for online brands and creatives, while also creating content for my personal brand. I studied Fashion Merchandising and Marketing, moving to Chicago right after graduation for a Visual Merchandising role with a luxury fashion retailer. Creativity has always been a core part of my life, from my interest in fashion and photography to my love for social media.
The idea of making social media a career took hold in 2020 when the world was on pause. I gradually built up my social media clients, and now, four years later, I am fully booked with amazing clients and unique projects. I’ve turned a dream I had four years ago into a thriving career.
I love the creative direction involved and the opportunities the online creative space offers to anyone looking to grow!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would be lying if I said it has been a “hard” journey for me. It has been A LOT of work and I’ve had multiple “Am I on the right path?” moments, and those can really get you down if you let them. However, I genuinely believe there’s a significant difference between struggling and putting in the work to grow a business or brand. I have been lucky enough to not “struggle” in terms of my career. However, as a freelancer, you experience changes and the ebb and flow of life, which can sometimes be difficult to accept. However, if you remain consistent and dedicated, things will continue to grow. I’ve had the most amazing years since starting my career, and I can only hope to keep flourishing and connecting with incredible creatives in the future!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am currently a Social Media Manager and Content Creator, specializing in working with online brands in the fashion and creative space. I assist with managing their social media, content creation, creative direction, graphic design, social strategy, art direction, and even photoshoots and planning. For my personal brand, I create a lot of fashion, lifestyle, and beauty content on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
I am most proud of building my business from the ground up without knowing anyone in the industry in the beginning. Along the way, I’ve met so many amazing creatives from whom I’ve learned a great deal, all while making a living doing something I love and am passionate about.
What sets me apart from others is my creativity and my ability to connect on a personal level with people in the creative space. Whether I’m working with them or not, I always strive to make them feel comfortable and to show that social media can be fun and approachable, rather than something daunting and incomprehensible.
