Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Le
Hi Cassandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my business, The Quirky Pineapple Studio a marketing and media agency, in December 2017. I made the jump to quit my full-time job, launch my business, and then two weeks later decided to move abroad because I fell in love abroad. Sounds like a fairytale dream and like a true romance novel… but after going through so much change in a short amount of time, I would not recommend starting a business and moving abroad at the same time – hah.
The Quirky Pineapple Studio started just with me, then I grew it into a full content marketing agency with a team of 5. Now, we are downsizing the company again and we have a team of 2 with various partners that come in to support us and clients when necessary. I decided to make this change based on reprioritizing what was important to me in my life – especially after COVID.
Deciding to downsize the business has also allowed me to explore other creative endeavors and potential revenue streams that tap into my creativity and vision for what my life is!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh gosh, it has NOT been a smooth road at all. For the past 7 years running this business, the road has always been filled with lots of bumps, curves, re-routes, and then potentially retracing my steps.
Some of the struggles that I’ve encountered along the way have been things like:
–> Imposter syndrome
–> Self-doubt
–> People-pleasing tendencies
–> Overthinking
And that’s just some of the personal hurdles I’ve had to overcome to become a better business owner and entrepreneur.
Alongside all of that, some of the other challenges I’ve faced are:
–> COVID and what that implied for our business
–> Economic uncertainty
–> The rise of AI and how that impacts marketing
Many times it’s pushed me to reinvent myself and the business, as well as find different ideas and innovative ways to stay relevant and continue providing a great service for clients.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
After running a location-independent media and marketing agency for the past 7 years, I’ve decided to step more into the spotlight as a Creator and share my unique perspective – not only in brand strategy and marketing but in other areas around leadership, work, and technology.
Alongside The Quirky Pineapple Studio, I also create videos on YouTube around productivity, self-love, and the occasional travel and living abroad vlog. I also have a podcast called I’m Lost, So What? that explores nuanced conversations for multicultural folks around identity, culture, and belonging.
I would say many folks know me for my marketing knowledge, as well as how organized and proactive I am in reaching my goals. I loveeee planning ahead of time and usually share my process for this online with my community – not only from a marketing and business perspective but also to reach my personal goals!
I’m most proud of my commitment to reinventing myself and experimenting when I see that the market has changed, my goals and priorities have shifted, or something isn’t aligning with my vision for the life that I want to live. That commitment to reinvention or experimentation has given me A LOT of insight to various areas and given me so much experience that I can now share with others!
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
If you’re about to make a big change or ‘reinvent’ yourself, I definitely recommend prioritizing some quiet time to reflect and journal. Of course there are other ways to find support through therapy or coaching but I think that any big change or self-reinvention requires lots of self-compassion and you can give yourself that space when you find some intentional time to get quiet and listen to what your inner thoughts are saying (or what your body is asking you for)!
