Today we’d like to introduce you to Carrita Flie
Carrita , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Wow! Where do I start? I feel like there are so many parts of my story that are significant to where I currently am. I am a woman who has endured recurrent pregnancy loss, infertility, adenomyosis, preterm labor, life in the NICU, a total hysterectomy and so much more. While the road traveled has been extremely difficult, I know that I was called to travel this road so that I could reach back and be a hand to other women who are facing the same challenges. I live by the saying “what I’ve gone through is not just for me”. I don’t mind displaying my journey to provide inspiration and light for those who may be stuck in darkness.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As women, it seems that we grow up believing that whenever we’re ready we can just get pregnant and have a baby. What do we do when that’s not our reality? When your body can’t do what it was designed to do, you can begin to feel less than other women around you. Less beautiful, less feminine. Learning to push past that false narrative was very difficult for me. But I knew that pushing past that narrative was key to me being able to fully walk forward in the work that God had called me to.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I absolutely love writing. Writing has been a staple in my healing journey as well as the work that I do with other women. I’ve published books, written blogs, co-authored projects and more. I am most proud of my children’s book “A Scar Tells a Story”. This is a beautiful piece that I wrote for my son, but the impact was so much greater than I ever anticipated. Even adults shared with me how this book helped this to embrace their scars no matter if they were physical, emotional or mental. I believe what sets me apart from others is that I genuinely write and share to be a light in this world. That what God calls us to be, a light. No matter what I’m facing, I will always use it to inspire others.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First and foremost, God. I would not be able to share my journey, write books and help other other families without God.
My family has always supported my endeavors and I am so grateful for that.
There is a beautiful community of women who have endured many of the same things that I have experienced and also share their stories publicly. This inspires me daily to keep going.
Being connected with other individuals who also run nonprofits, are authors, advocates etc is so important. I’m always able to get the support I need.
