Today we’d like to introduce you to Brett Juliano
Hi Brett, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Firstly, I would like to extend my gratitude to the Canvas Rebel team and you, Emily for having me back again to share experiences with your readers.
Since a young age it always filled me with joy to see someone assisting someone else without reward or recognition. From a young age I was ever aware of my surroundings; seeing lots of things others missed for whatever reason I thought. I wondered about the things I saw and pressured learning about those that made me curious, carried out chivalrous actions in replication of a gleeful exchange that I witnessed the day before. Those types of inspirations ingrained in me what I’ve found to be a foundational purpose in my life. Inspire. Inspire positivity, resilience, openness, open-mindedness, communicative narration of real life and accountability.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No life is smooth #fourwordsbyrecluse
I truly believe something a wise friend once said to me. He said, “In order to be joyful in life we must prepared to live life unexpectedly.” Jeff Calder
Most of our challenges in life, I’ve learned, are actually created or fertilized by outselves. Sometime it solely impacts the creator other times far more humans around that creator. Accountability allows hurdling of challenges easier than denial.
I have faced and been in many un-inviting positions throughout my life. Without expounding on said topics here a list pretty chronological ordered.
Birth father and family leave town when Mom tells of pregnancy the year I was born, singke momhoid really want a thing or widely known to be normal.
2x Entire life start over again – two divorces
Forced short sale on mortgaged home
Homelessness
Food insecurity
Depression
Anxiety
Incarerations
And very recently, June 28 2024, a paratraumatic accident requiring five hours of level 2 trauma surgery with 42 screws and three plates being used to reconstruct my left shoulder and arm.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
After failing English in high school…. and spending summer schooling I actually gained an appreciation for language and literal usage of words this, poems, songs, prose, captions and sales pitches. Scripts and production choreography are also passions of mine to pursue in the future. I’m yet to be published as an author yet have many many stories to tell. Some fact some fiction #fourwordsbyrecluse A dream of mine would be to work with The Moth.
I have been proud to be involved in Bostons art scene for many many years. Exposed to booking, promoting, show production and executive recording and live production roles.
I stand as a nominating committee member of The Boston Music Awards – ten plus years
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most humans who actually know me would probably be surprised that my favorite smell in the world is skunk. Yep true on animal skunk. I have many nasal issues from boxing and truly whatever that natural chemical is; should be bottled up somehow and used for sinus clearing!
