Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Corsini.
Hi Andrea, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I had a 6 years art break, burnout is another way to call it. I gave up my pencils and tried to focus on finding a job that helped me survive. It was a long period without art and it made me suffer a lot even if it never really left my life completely as I began to take pictures and experiment with my clothes. One way or another I had the impulse to create something.
That art break was finally broken 5 years ago.
After I met my partner, he slowly pushed me to pick up art again, which I’ll be forever grateful for.
I had to relearn a lot of things, at the time, I studed a different fundamental each day.
I had an inexplicable hunger for anything art related, I watched tutorials as I ate, speedpaints to relax, stared at other people’s artowrks to try and learn how they painted a certain art and read tips on how to tackle certain art fundamentals before bed.
This greatly helped me improve as much as I did in just 5 years, this “art hunger” is something that hugely pushes me to get better still.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My struggles came from inexpirience, mostly.
Before I picked art back again I had never actually studied it, as a teen I didin’t have a style I looked up to as I do now so I just experimented a lot.
I am very lucky I was born in a time where information was so readily and freely avaible, the myriads of tutorials were a constant help fpr me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a freelance illustrator and concept artist, I work for TTRPGS, TCGs and book publishing.
I specialize in fantasy and dark fantasy themes and most of my work consists of creating compelling ilustrations that are rick in storytelling and athmosphere. I also design characters, props and environments as well as create paitings for book covers or inside illustrations for books.
I’m most proud of how I try to always put a new spin or add onto the ideas my clients might have, resulting in new concepts they might have not taken in consideration showing them more possibilities.
This is also what I think could set me apart, I try to treat each new project as it was my own and aside from finding more possible ways of portraying the same thing I also tr to give it my all for each illustration.
How do you think about happiness?
Art makes me happy.
In every form, be it music, writing, visual, digital, traditional.
Art helps me broaden my mind, I woudln’t be who I am today without it. It helped me grow, see other people’s perspectives, understand complcated feelings and pushed me to go out of my comfort zone.
