In our experience, talking about legacy is often subtly discouraged by society and we find this to be deeply unfortunate. Thinking about the legacy you would like to build can help you better align your work, life, time – your sweat and tears – with your values. Below, we’ve tried to create a space for folks to start conversations about they legacies they are hoping to build.

I would like for people to remember me as funny and also as someone that lit up the room and made people feel good. I’d like to be known as one of the best that ever did what i did as well as being part of the change for the better of every situation that i enter into. Read more>>

I hope my legacy will be inspiration. I want to be an inspiration to others and soon a lending hand. I want to be remembered for being the girl that just went for it, despite the obstacles and challenges that stood in the way. To inspire people to do it scared, do it alone, do it because you believe it can happen, the worst that can happen is failure and with failure comes opportunity. An opportunity to learn and grow. I hope my legacy is leaving the impact of “Spreading Love and Caring for one another no matter your race or story.” There’s a beautiful quote by Jimi Hendrix that says “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.” I think a lot of people and young entrepreneurs confuse the premise of legacy and associate it with having “power.” I think when you really start to look at the “GOATS” of our lifetime you can make one clear distinction in their core values that separates them from the rest of the pack…and that is their unconditional will and admiration for giving back and spreading love or energy…good vibes if you will. And all of these different “Goats” do it in their own way! Which is adhering to YOUR own calling in this lifetime. Read more>>

I hope that my legacy will be that I helped people process life. When I’m writing a song, I take all the allotted 3 minutes to say what I want to say and to fill that space with what I want to process as if no one but myself would ever hear it, but am also aware that as a part of the human race, my experiences are not necessarily unique to me. My circumstance might be unique to me, the exact way it happened might be exclusive to me, but the feelings behind it, the concepts involved are all the same for all of us. We all can relate to what it feels like to be lonely, we all experience sadness and joy, love and heartbreak. So as I’m recording and releasing music, what is at the forefront of my mind is that I hope that someone who hears it is able to say “this is exactly what I’ve been feeling and exactly what I needed to hear.” Read more>>

I hope and pray that my legacy tells the story of how many great stories start with “I came from nothing” but no great story ends with, “I stayed there”. I want to tell a story of faithfulness, will power, determination and perseverance. I want people to see my logo and see what I have built from the ground up……..how I started with nothing and made something. Read more>>

I hope to stand out as the pioneer of Ghost Tours in Houston, and to be known for upholding the history and folklore of the town I grew up in. It’s important to me to show the darker side of history and legend in an effort to teach others about the fascinating stories that aren’t told in the daylight. We should learn from the past and move forward with a new understanding of our history and what impact they have on us today. I hope that my legacy is true to my work, and seen as a different and exciting way to learn about our city. Read more>>

I recently just had an epiphany thanks to my good friend Shay Mack. This film industry can’t be everything for you. Yes I want to be one of the greatest actors to walk this planet but I can’t destroy myself in the process. I hope my legacy will be paying back my mom and grandma for everything that they have done for me. My career wouldn’t be anywhere if it wasn’t for them. I hope that I have a wife and a couple kids because I’ve wanted since I was an adolescent. I want to pass down knowledge and security to my family. I want to open doors for people who look just like me. I hope my legacy shows that all I tried to do was take love and spread it. Read more>>

I want to be remembered as a solid Christian man with integrity and morals and who was always there to help those in need. I want to be remembered as a light in this world full of darkness. Someone whose actions resonated more about my Christian faith than the words out of my mouth. As someone who always had a smile and could encourage others even though I had a cavity of sadness inside my heart. I know one day when I die I will have to stand before God and despite all my setbacks and disappointments, I push forward knowing I have to do the best with what God gave me. Life is short and we have to make the most of it. Read more>>

Legacy- It is something I do think about often. I believe each and everyday we are leaving a part of us behind by every interaction we have with a person and even what we share on social media. We are always leaving an impact whether we realize it or not. Coming from immigrant parents I’ve always had a desire to help others as best as I can. My father passed away back in 2011. He was a hard working man throughout his entire life until he was injured at the job. He came to this country with my mom in the early 80’s from El Salvador and they did the best they could to provide for their growing family. Read more>>

I hope my legacy is something my family and future children will be proud of. I want my legacy always to represent my authentic self which is shown through my business and the work that I have done. I have always wanted my business to build a supportive community for women. I want women to know that we can be leaders and support one another through the different resources that we each have. The legacy is more about what did “Melanie do next” after she accomplished a goal for her business. Hence, the name of my blog and shop is “What’s Next Mel?” I always strived for the stars and never wanted to feel stagnant or that I didn’t accomplish enough in my lifetime. I hope that my legacy is something that my children can continue to build on and also be able to build their own extension of my company. Read more>>

In the fashion industry it can become very easy to loose sight or focus on what you wanted your true purpose or legacy to be. When I think about the legacy that i hope to leave with the world, I think of icons and Legends such as Josephine Baker, Naomi Campbell, Iman, Audrey Hepburn or Stephen Burrows , Anna Wintour , Virgil Abloh and my absolute favorite journalist, stylist, creative director and editor-at-large of Vogue magazine , Andre Leon Talley. I hope my Legacy is as strong and as vivid as those that are still here and as extensive and glorious of those that are gone. Read more>>

As a creative and professional, I hope to leave a legacy of hope and boldness. As an author, it takes a certain kind of boldness to share your thoughts and as a real estate professional, I like to believe I’m leaving families and individuals with hope of breaking generational curses and building generational wealth. Either way, I want my legacy to be one of boldness, fearlessness and hope. I want others to know I was bold in my business and personal ventures, fearless in my pursuit of what brings me joy and serves purpose and hopeful in that they too are capable of all those things as well. I want my impact to be broad as possible, but it comes down to my core beliefs. Since I started as a Restaurant Broker in 2010, I thought there was a lack of minorities in the Business Brokerage Industry. I started using the term “Restaurant Broker” in about 2016 to let people know I was a business broker specializing in selling restaurants and franchise resales. I have found myself educating people about the role of a Restaurant Broker, the requirements to get into the industry, and the nature of the business. I went to Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, on a Football Scholarship and majored in Business Management. Read more>>

As someone who has struggled with mental health, I hope to show that it’s always possible to work on your dreams. That it’s never too late to start doing what you love, and it’s okay if it takes some time to figure out who you are. Writing was something I always wanted to do, but it wasn’t until I suffered from postpartum depression that I finally jumped in and did it. Before I was always scared that I wouldn’t be good, of what other people would think of me, and I’d fail. Something about hitting rock bottom finally gave me the freedom to let go of those negative thoughts, and pursue something I’ve always secretly wanted to do. I want my story to help anyone who may be going through something similar, and hope that I may help encourage them to work on their dreams, no matter what. Read more>>

Education is one of my true passions. Prior to owning a salon, I was a Cosmetology educator. Educating students, and employees is one of the most rewarding parts of my career. I would hope my legacy is mentoring new talent, and providing stylists with the confidence and skills to be successful throughout their career. Read more>>

On a grand scale, I hope my legacy will be one of innovative and novel ways to approach modern spiritual healing and self-discovery. Traditional mediumship and spiritual healing often involve seeking answers or giving up one’s power to receive outside guidance. There are often restrictive practices and beliefs woven into the occult, such as the belief that we need to see a psychic or spiritual advisor to feel connected to the spirit world and receive insight. When it comes to the legacy that I will leave behind, I want the main message to be one of spiritual sovereignty and responsibility. Read more>>

“She was caring, strong, and never stopped fighting for what she believed in.” That’s a great quote, huh?! I’d love to be remembered for the good I did for my community. With my business, I help folks live a more sustainable life while providing products only made in ethical conditions. I know that each time a customer buys something from me rather than a big box store, they’re voting for a more ethical & just world. I want that to become mainstream & I want folks to seek out businesses who care as much as I do. Read more>>

I want people to remember me for creating a new path for my people to be successful and happy—opening avenues and helping them think outside the box. Also, there’s no shame in having help doing something with a team, and allowing the accolades to be spread out allows for continued success over long periods, which I feel creates generational wealth. My team and I at Maji Water LLC And Eat Strong LLC are grinding to be the new leaders of the culinary industry Maji Water is our first project. Still, it is far from our last we are blessed to share this product with Atlanta as our ground zero and operation headquarters. Read more>>
