In our experience, talking about legacy is often subtly discouraged by society and we find this to be deeply unfortunate. Thinking about the legacy you would like to build can help you better align your work, life, time – your sweat and tears – with your values. Below, we’ve tried to create a space for folks to start conversations about they legacies they are hoping to build.

Spreading kindness & freezing joyfilled moments I hope to encourage others to see their photos as their own personal pieces of art. Photographing weddings allows me to document the start of a new family legacy. I love the joy I see in my clients faces when they see themselves through my viewpoint. Most everyone has insecurities about themselves but if I can photograph someone the way they FEEL inside or WANT to feel and show them how beautiful they truly are through a photograph, I’ve done my job. Growing up in an immigrant family you were always told to do better than your parents. It was said that you have to become something because of the sacrifice they took to bring you here to the US. Now as a parent I not only want to not show that mentality but I want my daughters to know I support them in everyway possible. I want to show my daughters that anything is possible and you can try and if doesn’t work out it’s ok. What matters most is not the money you leave or the business you leave your children. Its those moments they see you work hard, those moments that you stop what your doing to care for them. I want them to achieve all they want but to also be content in their lives. To enjoy life and not just focus on the next big gig or paycheck. I hope my legacy shows others to go for your dreams but also enjoy life with the ones that you love. Read more>>

I come from very humble beginnings, and I hope that I’m able show my family, those before me and well after me how to keep going and do it for yourself first, that way you build yourself strong enough to support others. My goal is to simply be the first in my family to go beyond regional success! To global. Read more>>

I would hope that my legacy is that my career and longevity show others that you don’t need a lot of money to start an maintain a successful brand. Planning, determination and creativity can go a long way. I wanted to create the blueprint and share it freely, so that those generations that come after me won’t hesitate to take entrepreneurship to another level. Read more>>

How will I be remembered? What difference did I make? Many of us wonder about legacy. Throughout my career, I strived to demonstrate integrity and fairness. As a social worker in leadership roles, it mattered that my actions matched my words. I believed in modeling expectations. For me, it’s important to show up authentically in all facets of my life. What I hope my legacy will be… to be remembered as someone who is humble and compassionate. Someone who cares enough to have empty bank account to see others have food to eat and a bed to sleep at night, and to be remembered as a person who’s reflection is Christ within controlling her being. My mission statement and mantra for life is “make an impact while making an income” , so in addition to a full portfolio of clients, I do a lot of philanthropic work. I volunteer with many markets in my area, I am on the board for Tri-Base Small Business Co-op, Mildenhall Spouses’ Association, and Tri-Base West Indies. It has been very hard trying to find a balance between paying clients and volunteering time, but I am so proud of what i do with these organizations that I don’t mind devoting what little free time I have to them. With being a self taught loctician, I can say my growth speaks for itself. I hope with every client I get that my hopes is to bless them in multiple ways. Yes, i can do their hair but I strive to add to the life whether it’s hair growth or just being a listening ear when they get serviced. I want my legacy to be talked about now not once I’m gone. With every service I try my best to make sure my client is completely satisfied. Yes I get paid to do a service but did i help your self-esteem grow and over time have you seen improvement in your hair. The legacy I’m building right now is based on the satisfaction that all my clients were not just serviced but satisfied and lives have changed for the better. Read more>>

I want to have been the best husband and dad. However, as an architect, I want to be good. Let me explain. Good is a word that is rarely used without modifiers. It’s often erroneously surpassed by words like great or even fantastic. I think it stands alone. For instance, how do you measure if you’re good at something? Can you ever say or know if you’re good at something? Will someone else ever say you’re good? When I say good, I don’t mean moderately talented, clever, or even skilled. I just mean good in the purest sense of the word without superlatives or any other adverbs in front of it. Good is just that, good. Read more>>

The story of a man who drew his own guidelines; hopefully it’s inspirational to others who are embarking on this journey of getting out their dreams. I”m also looking to leave this for my kids; my oldest daughter wears my merchandise to school and I could imagine that makes her proud to say, “my father designed this hoodie” whenever she has it on. I also want to be the first; my area doesn’t have someone that took it to the heights I’m looking to take it too on the creative side. Read more>>

I hope my legacy will be inspirational. I definitely want to leave an imprint on all people. Like that feeling you get when you talk about Michael Jackson, you get the chills, joy, and motivation to want to be great like him. I want to leave that, but also i want people to understand what it takes. I want to leave knowledge behind every success and failure i do. I want to also give knowledge of anything i learned whether it’s towards love, energy, people, rights, building a business, etc.. I hope whatever i leave behind gives people that sense to want to be great or give greatness towards anything they do or say. Read more>>

As I get older, I realize that creating something from our minds, our hands and our passion is something that you will leave behind. It is not only the story of how it was created and what was put into it, it is driven by the inspiration that drove you to this moment in time. I am able to use my skills as a creator to create a piece for someone else that will have long lasting memories that can be shared with loved ones. This legacy of sharing your gifts with others is something I want to be remembered for, especially with my husband, children and grandchildren. Read more>>

Even small acts can make a difference, especially if you make them part of a routine. My hope is that Pick It Up provides the tools to make action easier, raises awareness, and encourages others to keep the planet clean by collecting trash when outdoors. Trash collection is a simple place to start but if even one person makes these changes, and incorporates practices that help our planet, that will be a legacy I am proud of. Read more>>

I want to leave behind something that my nieces and nephews can share with their own families long after I’m gone and share stories about their cool or crazy aunt (I’m fine with either really) who created all these amazing things. Something my friends can look back at and share a fond memory of with the important people in their lives. Something that 50 years from now, people can look at have it evoke some sort of emotion. Photography is an amazing thing, in that it captures one singular moment that’s now forever frozen in time and each one has it’s own story. Stories are the most important thing that connect everyone and I hope to be able to leave behind an incredible one. Read more>>

As a person statistically destined to fail in this world of business I take very seriously the challenge to grow a company and be financially successful . All while making sure to not compromise the values that have brought me this far. Showing my 4 children that despite as many hurdles as one may have, like being female, an Afro-Latina who was kicked out of their home as a teen, a teen mother with no traditional high school education, can still become an entrepreneur and business founder, launch a passionate career is making a positive impact on the world.
