In our experience, talking about legacy is often subtly discouraged by society and we find this to be deeply unfortunate. Thinking about the legacy you would like to build can help you better align your work, life, time – your sweat and tears – with your values. Below, we’ve tried to create a space for folks to start conversations about they legacies they are hoping to build.

I am hoping to build a legacy of recognition. In my business, we are dedicated to recognizing the underdog: the one who is talented but overlooked. When my time is up and the Lord calls me home, I want for people to remember that they were seen, heard, welcomed, and genuinely loved by me. I want for my family to be financially covered, and for my children to carry on the business name if they so desire. Read more>>

I hope that people remember the brand as not trendy. Sustainable, unique, fashion, stylish and conscious shopping is what my brand is about and I hope that we could move the funds toward the pockets of small businesses and not large corporations. We have seen time and time again what the billionaires think about their work force and it is never going to change. Read more>>

This is an easy question. Answer: To be remembered. I want to leave this world knowing I left an imprint, some how or some way. Once you leave, your legacy is all that is left. I would love to have mine be more than a distant memory for people. My art, my photography, my body of work and the memory of me will hopefully live on through others and be enjoyed for years to come. Read more>>

Thank you for having on here again, i greatly appreciate it. What legacy i’m i hoping to build and what do i think people will say about me when i am gone, hmm, what a loaded question! But i love it. First of all, i would love to be known for being diligent Christ follower and doer. I would love to build a legacy of not settling for less and being an exceptional being that we are created to be. I would hope people would say great things about me when i am long and gone or else i will wake back up and check them haha. But in all seriousness, i would hope individuals i had an encounter with or know of me to say that i gave them or showed them on how to be a better person. Most importantly, introduce them to the light which is God and having a relationship with the creator. Read more>>

I hope I can be remembered for helping design films that entertain, disrupt, and communicate ideas important to our society, and that inspire change. Through my designs and sets, I aim to set the tone for stories that can transcend the passage of time and impact new generations, the same way films have impacted me since I was little. I believe film is a very powerful tool for changing perspectives and can ultimately bring about positive change in our society and worldview. Read more>>

I think that Photography is a revolutionary thing, taking moments of life and freezing them to keep for as long as you can. I want to do just that for people. I want to share the happy, sad, emotional, funny, ect, moments with them and the people that mean the most to them. I hope that taking the photos for them gives them a sense of peace in the future. When I am gone, I would like to be remembered for my positive impact on people’s lives. I want to be known for revolutionary changes in fashion; also for using fashion as a medium to educate and spread a positive message that resonates with the general public. When all is said and done, I want the greatness of my legacy to be measured not by the amount of money I made, but by the number of individuals whose lives I improve. It is so common in today’s society to praise the rich even if they don’t use their position to inspire growth and positive change. I am going to change that. Read more>>

As an elopement photographer, I think about legacy a lot. It’s a really high honor to know that the work that I am creating is going to live on for generations. Decades from now, possibly even centuries from now, my couples’ children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren will be looking at the images that I took on the day they got married. In a lot of ways my couples’ legacy is also my legacy as well. I preserve these memories for them, and in doing so I’ve created a legacy of my own. It’s an immense privilege to be trusted with this task, and I aim to create work that will preserve these memories in an honest, and truthful way. Read more>>

Starting at a young age, art intrigued me and I knew it was something I would want to practice for the rest of my life. I had taken multiple art classes, private lessons, and had even continued into college as an art major. During my school years, I was always considered book-smart. I had straight A’s and was an all around amazing student. There was so much pressure from my family and friends as the only girl to go to college, get a degree! The older I grew, the more i realized I was losing touch with my creative side and I wanted to reconnect. I started losing focus and interest in my academic classes, and would spend most of my time dozing off during lectures drawing in my notebooks. Read more>>

What I hope to instill in my descendants and those who have known me in my life: I want those who come after me to possess the courage to seek out and identify their passion in this life. To pursue it relentlessly. What I want my descendants and all who know me to learn from watching how I have lived and conducted business: Honor first and always, the Almighty, for without Him, nothing is possible and with Him, all things are. The legacy I look forward building upon goes beyond me just achieving the goals I have in mind for myself. Musically I want be remembered for changing the way music producers are looked upon. I want to be one of those producers who changes the game, by being myself and bringing something different to the table. I want to be able to give producers a new spotlight. I don’t think were appreciated enough as a whole in what we bring to this industry. I want to be able to show others who come from the same background as me that you can do it through all the pain and struggles, and the setbacks that you got to go through to get where you really want to be. that you can make it happen by having 1000 percent belief in yourself no matter what. I think less about how people will talk about me after I’m gone and more about what kind of place I’m leaving behind for younger generations. I’m even more interested in laying the groundwork now for a better experience in the music world for audiences and creators alike. I’ve been lucky to experience all that I have so far in my career, but some things have come much harder than I think is necessary. My focus is and will always be to work to smooth out some of these pain points for those that come after me. Read more>>

Honestly, legacy has never been super important to me. I think it’s more important to consider how a legacy is created. It’s the here and now that seems to matter later, and so that’s what I’d rather focus on. I want my friends and family to know that I love them. I want strangers to know, or at least experience if we come in contact somehow, that I care about them even if I don’t know them. I have spent a lot of time thinking about mental health, what it looks like to be kind, how to love other people deeply, et cetera. So I believe I have wisdom to share in those areas. I want to share that, which is why I’ve started the podcasts that I have, Simple Mental Health and now MUSINGS. I want all of these things to happen now. So with that, I guess it will all work out for a lasting legacy if people so choose to remember me that way! Read more>>

I hope that after I’m gone, friends and family will remember me as someone who is kind, humble, and compassionate. Growing up as a first gen in my family, I had a future planned out for me. After losing my dad, I found myself losing all my goals and my ambitions. Until I my mentor (who I still work for) introduced me to the beauty industry. She took me under her wings and constantly reminded me to be kind and compassionate with myself. And from being kind to myself I find that being kind to others come naturally as well. Women and men from all walks of life come to see me to feel better and to share with me their everyday problems, so I listen without judgement. Some days, it’s the opposite way around. While I am empathetic and compassionate to my clients, it reminds me to also be that for myself. Read more>>

“SHE IS A BUSY BEE” Always creating something…. Making a mark on the world that can’t be erased. My personal valves begin with the Shaker saying “Hands to Work Hearts to God” What is and what was has always been apart of my soul. I have felt a curosity and interest in the present and the past. I have known people who started their own creative businesses and I have watched and learned what they enjoyed and were good at and how this gave me an awareness and understanding of the similarities of myself to them. Understanding your heart in the whys and hows of what you do is the beginning of the true purpose behind the committment. Read more>>

Every hope I’ve had, dream I’ve dreamed, and goal I’ve set required I push through many fears, doubts, and challenges. Some of those hopes were realized, some dreams came true, and some goals were met, but many were not. My story is not finished but the legacy I hope to build and be remembered for, is one of courage and perseverance in the face of adversity, and grace and kindness toward all those I encountered along the way.
