The action, the drama, the energy is addictive and it’s why so many never want to retire from entrepreneurship. We’ve asked some very talented entrepreneurs to share some of those crazy stories with us.

I had my first negative experience months into my photography journey. A client who had signed up for holiday minis ended up not paying in full at the end of their session, and the reason was due to being a single parent with no money until payday. Although it would have been helpful for them to discuss this privately with me before their session, I had no choice but to allow payment to be made at their convenience, assuming they knew without payment meant no delivery. After all, I had once been a struggling parent, so I was very understanding. Read more>>

Imagine being a fugitive on the run for a crime you were not even in the state to commit. Your family is unsure of your innocence so all doors of refuge are closed. You have no valid Identification and only enough money in your pocket to cover expenses for the week because you have just “redup”, paid your lawyer retainer payment and had no idea that your spirit was tired of living in the shadows and tired of perpetuating generational curses. With one foot still dragging on the dark side and your heart digging deep to find hope. Read more>>

I had a lot of hiccups in the beginning when I founded Mommy Go Bag. I was naive to the process when I was first began and was told that I needed a marketing plan. Looking back, I realize that the marketing plan was unnecessary. I wasted a lot of money and time on formulating this plan when I could have jumped right into production with the bag. Read more>>

I have been through the storm with this clothing line from emotions and dealing with hate but also supporters. Most craziest story is when people recognize me out in public. I was at a baby’s party and some auntie said “I love your clothes I need a tote bag design to go grocery shopping” it’s sick. Read more>>

I will never forget when I woke up to a phone call at 5:25 am in 2017 to let me know that my father has been rushed to the hospital in Santa Cruz. It was reported that he was suffering from the worst type of stroke that you can have. His co workers found him on the cold ground at work, eyes closed and he wouldn’t wake up. I drove 6 hours to Santa Cruz rushing to get to him because my family members didn’t know if he was going to make it or not. On the way to Santa Cruz, Ca I was crying and singing the song Hear My Prayer. Read more>>

The craziest thing that has ever happened while running Haochi, has to be Christmas service 2020. We were popping up out of a well established business (which was huge at the moment since we literally were only 4 months old), selling take out dinners for the holiday. It was a great event on paper since we had a presale system placed so we could keep track of our cost for inventory, we were getting really good exposure, and we sold out well before we thought we would. During the height of the pandemic I was making hundreds of face masks a week. While I was making masks I would frequently watch a local Twitch stream. During the stream someone in chat said “Gibi is reviewing Kaiju’s face masks live right now!” I heard the host call out my name & said that my masks were being reviewed by one of the most popular ASMR YouTuber’s. I wasn’t familiar with this individual and soon learned that Gibi is the #1 ASMR streamer and that she has over 4 million subscribers. Read more>>

It was 3 am my time and I got the call that woke me up. ” Can you help us Odette? We are faced with an academic misconduct charge which could swiftly terminate our chances of becoming a Specialist Community Nurse in England, United Kingdom.” Why did they believe that I could help them? Before I started my studies at York University I worked with two Fortune 500 companies where I honed my advocacy skills. I felt an innate satisfaction as my fellow team members would avoid these sessions and ask me to conduct them. I maneuvered the various cases and team leads also encouraged me to handle multiple negotiations & interventions. Read more>>
