The action, the drama, the energy is addictive and it’s why so many never want to retire from entrepreneurship. We’ve asked some very talented entrepreneurs to share some of those crazy stories with us.

Being in entertainment niche always brings fun and crazy stories. We had plenty of positive and negative situations, and most of them we encountered so often that we don’t even pay attention to anymore. One day stands out the most though, it had the biggest contrast of good and bad and almost made us cry. We had a large party that was running late for their booking. They have arrived half an hour before their 1 hour session was supposed to end, didn’t listen to our staff, under influence, broke all rules possible, and somehow even managed to fall asleep in the process, some of them. You want to hear about the craziest story related to our business? Buckle up… or rather hold on to the subway handle. When we were first launching we paid a local business in Harlem to print cards they were unable to deliver on. One of the company’s employees knew we were unhappy and suggested we work with a printer in the Bronx. So, we rode the subway to the Bronx where the employee then picked us up and drove us ten minutes to another printer that also did not work out for us. Read more>>

Hope this inspires! It CAN happen to you! Put yourself out there! One year ago (2021)…. I was looking forward to attending my very first BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC Supplier Diversity Conference in South Carolina. It was still a couple of months away…I wondered how in the world I could stand out in a crowd of over 2000 people. I watched past videos of the conference and noticed that everyone had on suits and dark clothing. Read more>>

I would say that interactions with our clients are one of the most impactful parts of our business. It is easy to get caught up in providing assistance in a material way, that I have sometimes forgotten to take a minute and view the person before me as a whole. One person, that I will call Amy, would come to us to receive clothing several times a year. I was familiar with her. She was usually demanding and not always pleasant. Read more>>

One of the most unexpected things that happened to me was getting a call one day from the grandson of the founder of a national hotel chain. I don’t want to say the name, but it’s a brand we all know and recognize. He said he was rooting for me because his grandfather – like mine – had sold their business to a large corporation. It made their family very wealthy, but the brand lost what made them special. The hotel chain became more about making money than creating a unique experience for their guests. Read more>>

My work always been based on real emotions from my actual life and they’re most likely relatable is some type of way. In my first book ‘Spilt Wine’, a poem book, I express emotions of guilt, shame, lust and love for the ex lovers that I dealt with in the past and during those times I were what people call an alcoholic. At a young age it always seem to be very common to become one but as we get older we don’t always want to accept accountability in our addictions. Read more>>

So, I took the business over from the previous owner at the beginning of 2020…. just a few weeks before the Covid shutdown. I didn’t have any money, and have never in my life owned a business, so I thought we had a zero percent chance of survival. The bills and rent were still piling up as my team and I were all on unemployment, and there wasn’t any income coming through. By some crazy, INSANE stroke of luck, and love from our community, we were able to make it through all three months of being closed! Read more>>

The craziest story is about what started my whole business/brand. Covid just hit the world and shut everything down. I was working a job that was classified as an “essential” job. About a month into the pandemic, I had a freak accident in the gym that caused me to dislocate my shoulder (and that’s why you always make sure to warm up before your sets, kids). It left me without a job and any sort of income while I was out hurt. I needed to make some form of money to keep myself afloat. So I watched some YouTube tutorials on how to use Photoshop to design clothing and much more. And the rest is history! Read more>>

I was directing a television commercial for a small, family owned nursery. Our concept was to highlight the distinction that unlike the big corporate competitors, this nursery was “family owned.” So I wrote a script that called for several members of the family to speak on camera and talk about their business.. It was a disaster. Read more>>

The one that immediately comes to mind is the commission from Louis Vuitton. I was scanning my inbox one day and saw an email from one of their project managers. I instantly thought, “It’s an ad.” However, I discovered that it was quite real. She had come across my art on Instagram and sent a to-the-point request asking if I was available to recreate one of my designs (at that time, the largest was 12in/30.4cm square) on a large scale and in a particular timeline.
