Being a business owner isn’t easy. There are amazing highs, but the lows are often quite intense as well. Somedays it feels like the problems never stop – regardless of how much success you achieve. The problems just grow, evolve, morph. So we asked business owners if they sometimes wonder what it would be like to just have a regular job and have shared some of the highlights below.

I am very happy as a business owner. My father is an entrepreneur so I grew up seeing the good and the bad of owning your own business. My father is a home inspector. I remember very well the stress of the recession on him and his business. But I also remember that he was able to be there for everything, because he created his own schedule. My mom always had a full time office job so I know that has always kept them financially stable, and allowed my dad to start his business. I started my business when I was 16 years old. I have never experienced working a regular job so I do wonder what it would be to just have a regular job. As a small business owner, I wear many hats, meaning you must manage several job titles. This can be stressful, especially as a young adult, but it has taught me many lessons that have been pivotal for growth in my life and my career. I definitely ask myself this question sometimes.
There’s no problem choosing to work a “regular job”, I know all the benefits. I personally just have so many qualms with the sacrifices it takes, and seeing people who get stuck there. I think that’s my main fear, being so stuck in a certain situation and some job I settled for being the only thing that’ll get me through it- for how long?
