As a business owner, at this stage of my life, I am extremely happy! I started my business at age 60, and I wish I had done it sooner. I had regular jobs working for other people all of my life, and never thought about having a business of my own. My parents had run their own businesses from the time I was in my late teens, so I was not really around much when they were first getting started. I was on my way out of the household. Working for other people was great, they took the business risk, I got paid. Until I started this business that is a passion. Now I get it! It’s not work. The journey of building a business is far from easy; it’s filled with uncertainties, especially financially. There are times when you’re not sure where your next dollar will come from, and you’re constantly in a service role, working hard often for less pay than you might in a conventional job. Read more>>

I think becoming a business owner runs in my blood. My father owned his own construction company for decades. All of my cousins on my dad’s side, either own a farm, or are creative independent musicians, or own their own video production companies. I think it took me a long time to realize that I, too, could also successfully run my own business. Even though basically all of my family members showed me it could be done, I did not believe in myself or my capabilities to be successful. Read more>>

I find greater happiness in creating my own work environment, one that fosters creativity. I enjoy setting up a space that is inviting for clients and allows room for experimentation and growth. In this setting, I’ve been expanding my photography skills, sculpting with clay, and exploring ways to reuse or upcycle my amber product bottles. These pursuits have opened up new revenue streams while keeping my work fresh and engaging. They also inspire me with colors and shapes that I can bring back to my clients, helping me stay enthusiastic and excited. Read more>>
