We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chisha Chikwanda a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Chisha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I initially started recording music in 2021,but I can say I had the passion of music even before I started being on the mic… At first,I didn’t think i would take it to the level of performing on stage,but as I got the exposure to do my music at churches,even at big events like Independence and school graduations,I had a big feeling of my music even moving further from Zambia 🇿🇲..so I think it really kicked in the moment I did some performances and shared my music with friends and people around me,then I knew I would make a big impact with music ..

Im Breezy Thee Official 💯 from Zambia..I’m a Rapper/Hip-Hop Artist just doing music to impact people,to share the word of God through my music and also to bring the vibe in my songs..apart from music,I’m currently pursuing a Diploma in Electrical Engineering at Lusaka Business And Technical College..I started music officially in 2021 with the help of my bro K-Wills,since then iv been pushing and believing one day,things will definitely change ..I like to be innovative,so I’m trying to see if I can do groovy genres like Afrobeats, Emotional songs,Gospel,and even Motivational Songs, but mostly I love to rap 💙 ..I think what sets me apart from other rappers is I try to make sure the music I give is giving other people SUBSTANCE..or I can say I love to paint a picture with my music to others, trying to talk for those who cant talk,to help those with bad emotions,stress,and so on..The advantages iv had so far is iv managed to establish both local and international features with other artists which is great for me at this stage,iv developed my craft,my style and information I give out at least relates…some setbacks include not having enough funds,and missed programs during my music..
I think for everyone whose seeing this,I can say this is just the beginning of my music journey,which is a tough time..but through learning new things ,new way of approach,I might get the hand of it..
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Well,ever since I started doing music,iv been received a lot of criticism.. especially from some of my family members and people in some areas…but the effort I have invested and the time I have spent has made a solid picture in my mind just to keep going… through my same songs I have done,I have managed to be on radio stations,even got to perform on occasions like Independence and Graduation Ceremonies, which came as a shock to some people..to put the icing on the cake,I was fortunate enough to do music with people outside Zambia 🇿🇲 in particular..so with the effort I have put in ,the money I have invested in, together with the concepts I produce with my music,it gives me hope that Im going to make it…it’s one step at a time..
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
For me,it’s going to be an achievement doing something different.. like for example,For me who does Rap music,it’s never been heard of a Rapper doing music from an Adventist Church (SDA) which I am…since I also do Gospel,but in form of Rap,I want to get to spread the word of God through my rap music..it’s kinda crazy,but music is all about the message coming out if it..We see other doing motivational music,but using beats like Afrobeats..but Having a rapper doing Rap,in a church that’s is not adapted to this genre is another level o that’s hits different 💯 mostly,my goal is not to spread God’s word through my music,but give someone hype,motivate, help and being happiness in my music
