We recently connected with Maddie Ledyard and have shared our conversation below.
Maddie, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
There is no straight road to becoming successful. I do feel like there is a solid foundation to getting to that place where you feel you need to be. Staying grounded, humble, and consistent are the three key factors to becoming successful in my opinion. I Have heard of many creatives almost gaining that mile stone but they let their egos take away from being kind and humble.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a 20 year old wardrobe stylist from Cleveland Ohio. I have always been into fashion since my freshman year of high school but I wasn’t able to purse the career I wanted due to that fact of me being a student athlete. After highschool I started a retail job, I would create looks for social media and my friends which then led to me creating looks for bigger clients, and companies. What sets me apart from others, would be the fact that I am young doing what I dreamed of. I want to eventually open an agency for younger creatives to have opportunities that are pretty hard to get at our age. I am most proud of where I am today. If you would have told me I would be styling some of the biggest names in this generation, I wouldn’t believe you. I would have never known I would be an inspiration to all generations. It makes me feels so accomplished and amazing inside.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
Social media is the biggest marketing technique today. I have gained pretty much all my clients from marketing and pitching myself to the world. Earlier this year I got an amazing opportunity to style one my good friends Zia Cooke for the the 2023 Wnba draft. I wish you guys could have felt how excited I was. It was my time to prove myself to the world that I can do this. So…that’s exactly what I did. I did it even bigger then I expected. Social media went insane over my work it was the best I have ever felt. I thought to myself I need to market myself now. So I tagged Angel Reese and told her I’m styling her next. Not even 7 hours later, I got a response and she was down. Marketing yourself is something you have to do if you wanna make it. Don’t ever be afraid to shoot your shot because you never know who is watching.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
So far I have learned many lessons since my career had started, but I had to unlearn one huge lesson. I had to unlearn that everything happens overnight. You see these successful people and from the outside looking in it looks like things did happen over night when in fact it does not. It take years and years to be somewhat successful in this Industry..I thought that with a little bit of consistency it would just happen over night, and boy oh boy did I get a wake up call.
