We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jennifer Lusk and Dana Compton a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Jennifer and Dana, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello! We are Jennifer Lusk and Dana Compton, co-hosts of the Scandalous Diamonds Podcast, a comedy podcast that recaps novels by New York Times’ Best-Selling Author, Jackie Collins. Jen prepares a recap each week of 10-12 chapters and tells Dana, along with listeners, the scandalous and salacious stories!
The idea was born from a lazy poolside summer day in July 2020. Jen learned that Dana had never read a Jackie Collins novel and decided that needed to change (Jen has read every Jackie book and weaves the author’s books into most conversations). They thought a podcast would be the perfect way to introduce Jackie Collins to a new generation, who is sure to fall in love with her. Several days later, Jen got an idea to do the re-caps with Dana commenting along, since Dana always has a great comeback.
On February 14, 2021, after meetings with Jackie’s PR Rep, Ann-Marie Nieves of Get Red PR, recording a pilot and overcoming rookie-mistake equipment challenges, Scandalous Diamonds premiered.

Now just finishing its 7th season and going strong, we are about to celebrate our 100th episode with listeners in six continents and downloads in over 30 countries.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
The mission of Scandalous Diamonds is to be the safe place for unfiltered talk. Many listeners describe their experience as sitting with their best friends over wine while talking about anything and everything that comes to mind!
Jackie Collins is best known for writing steamy sex novels and while the sex scenes are sensational (oh, we can learn so much from Jackie!), the stories bring you into the world of deep characters who have readers analyzing them for days! In fact, there are so many character lives intertwined that Dana has created a Character Reference Board to help keep up with it all. (Picture a board with tons of pictures and strings, similar to when detectives are looking for a serial killer on a crime show!)
Scandalous Diamonds is for everyone who loves to laugh and doesn’t mind bad words every now and then.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The listeners. Getting to meet and interact with amazing people all over the world has been an absolute joy. We are touched by the beautiful and thoughtful gifts and all the fun messages we receive about the week’s episode. Scandalous Diamonds is bringing people together and encouraging girl power everywhere, and we know that is what Jackie would have loved about it.
