We recently connected with LaQuetta Allen and have shared our conversation below.
LaQuetta, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I have always done everything as far as planning and designing for my own family events for many years. I am very big on celebrations and making my loved ones feel special. When Covid happened and events stopped, I had to find other ways to celebrate my loved ones from afar! I began playing around with Yard Balloon Displays. These balloon designs were created and placed in the lawn of family members on their birthdays. The Yard displays were going viral and trending all over the world and that is what gave me the idea to do it in the first place. Once others started to see my work, they started to reach out for bookings! This lead to me wanting to be as professional as possible with my balloon work so that I could give my clients the absolute best and increase profits. I went to Balloon Class and Balloon-ish Balloon Art and More was born!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is LaQuetta Allen and I am ALL THE THINGS, a wife, mother, teacher, business owner, and balloon artist! I love to create beautiful designs and put smiles on others faces and my Balloon Business, Balloon-ish Balloon Art and More, allows me to do that. I love to work with Prop companies, Event Venues, and Event Planners to help bring these beautiful ideas to life. The pandemic pushed me into the world of Balloons. I needed an outlet during a dark time in my life and I also needed a way to be able to spread cheer and joy to others who were also in dark places at that time. Balloons became a huge trend and I hopped on the bandwagon and fell in love! What sets my Balloon Company apart is that I am all about quality and creating lavish designs with reasonable pricing for all. Balloons can be very expensive but I stress to my clients that I am all about working with families so that their dreams can come true, even if they don’t have huge budgets.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
My professionalism and expertise has really helped me to build my reputation. I am always early, fully prepared, and I do a lot of prep work offsite to help expedite the process thus saving my clients from having to spend extra money to secure their event space for more time than they actually need. I am also very big on communication and being sure that I am on the same page as my clients vision.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Social Media and word of mouth has been amazing as far as reaching new clients. I get more inquires from my weekly content that I post to show case my designs from that particular week than I do from Google or my Website. I am also networked with a lot of other Balloon Sisters in the state of NC and we often refer each other when we are booked up. I have gained quite a few returning and loyal customers from referrals as well.
