We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ellie Redders. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ellie below.
Ellie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.
Revolutionizing the world of interior design, Ellie Redders Interiors stands at the forefront of innovation as one of the pioneers in offering a truly immersive design experience through Virtual Reality (VR) using the Oculus headset. Imagine being able to step inside your dream home before construction even begins! With cutting-edge technology, we transform this vision into a reality for our clients.
The process begins with creating a precise digital replica of a space, down to the last detail. This includes selecting the exact tile, flooring, hardware, cabinetry, and colors that align with the client’s unique style and preferences. But it doesn’t stop there. We go one step further by integrating their exact chosen furniture pieces into the virtual environment, allowing them to walk through their entire home, ensuring that every aspect of the design aligns with their vision. This immersive journey empowers our clients to make informed decisions about their design choices, eliminating guesswork and ensuring that every element harmonizes seamlessly. It’s an experience that not only brings their dream home to life but also ensures that the design choices are a perfect fit, both aesthetically and functionally.
Additionally, VR technology offers a level of interactivity that traditional design methods lack. We can explore different design options, materials, colors, and layouts in real-time, making it easier to see our ideas come to life. This interactive aspect enhances the creative process, allowing our team to push boundaries, think outside the box, and come up with innovative design solutions. It also helps to identify potential design flaws, make necessary adjustments, and ensure a more accurate representation of the final result.
Overall, VR technology positively influences the interior design process by enhancing visualization, promoting creativity, facilitating collaboration, and saving time and resources. It revolutionizes the way we conceptualize and communicate our ideas, resulting in more efficient, accurate, and client-centered design experiences.
Our clients walk into their finished space or new build and are blown away with how accurate the virtual reality images are compared to the real life reveal!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
A couple of years ago, I took on a kitchen renovation project for a client who had specific visions of transforming their outdated and cramped space into a modern culinary haven. The challenge was not only to meet their expectations but also to work within their limited budget.
As we began the project, unexpected obstacles emerged. We discovered hidden plumbing issues that required extensive repairs, pushing our timeline and budget to the brink. On top of that, some of the custom cabinetry we had ordered arrived damaged and had to be reordered, causing further delays.
Instead of giving into frustration, I knew I had to demonstrate resilience and find solutions despite the setbacks. I worked closely with my team and the contractors to streamline the process and find cost-effective alternatives. We diligently renegotiated contracts and explored creative ways to optimize the available space.
To ensure that my client’s expectations were met, I personally took charge of managing every aspect of the project, overseeing every detail with meticulous precision. I communicated openly and transparently with my client, explaining the challenges we faced and presenting alternative options to ensure we stayed within their budget.
Through innovative problem-solving, we managed to resolve each issue one by one. We found skilled professionals who could address the plumbing problems efficiently and collaborated with our craftsmen to repair and salvage the damaged cabinetry. It was a true test of our resilience and ability to pivot, but we remained committed to delivering the dream kitchen our client desired.
In the end, despite the hurdles we encountered along the way, we successfully transformed the once-outdated kitchen into a breathtaking space that exceeded our client’s expectations. The joy and gratitude they expressed made every moment of challenge and setback we faced throughout the project worthwhile.
This particular kitchen renovation taught me valuable lessons in resilience and adaptability. It reinforced my belief in the importance of fostering strong relationships with reliable contractors and suppliers, as well as the significance of transparent communication and collaboration with clients. Most importantly, it reminded me that no matter how daunting the obstacles may be, with determination and resilience, any hurdle can be overcome.
Through this experience, I have grown not only as an interior designer but also as a business owner. It has instilled in me the confidence to tackle even the most complex projects and find creative solutions to any challenges that arise.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A streamlined, effective and functional process that can be duplicated for every project is obviously what we strive for, but is it really realistic when you are working with someone in such a personal way? I don’t think so! Therefore, I try to base my process on things that have worked in the past, but I am also always open to changes to better the process for each individual client.
