We often hear about bad bosses, but we think it’s important to talk about the good ones because we hope that by giving folks examples of how to be a good boss we can inspire future bosses to be better, to do better for their employees and all stakeholders.

I just recently became the Athletic Director at North Canyon High School and alongside God’s plan and my degrees, I owe a lot of my confidence and preparedness in this position to my colligate AD, Mr. Dick Christy. I attended The University of North Carolina at Pembroke for undergrad and to obtain my masters. Dick Christy became the University’s AD my senior year in undergrad and the way he carried himself and cared for our entire athletic program was beyond anything I’ve ever encountered. Read more>>

While working in corporate America fresh after completing my masters program, there was a lot of adjusting to the high-paced work environment. My experience was more in the public sector so this was a change. I was also newly married and eventually became pregnant. I mention all this to say my boss was so supportive and empowering and at that time back in 2004, she offered me to change my position to be remote with occasional traveling. Read more>>

The best boss I’ve ever had is the boss I currently have. Her name is D Boyle, and she is the owner of Dcompress Downtown in Little Italy, the wellness studio where I work as a holistic skin therapist and reiki provider. She is the sweetest, hardest working and supportive boss I’ve ever known. She did everything to make sure that the studio survived COVID times and kept us going and connected through the hardest times. I love her to pieces. Read more>>
