Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Taylor Moultrie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Taylor, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I came up with Moultrie Wine Co. + bar while working in Healthcare and came to the end of that career decision. I had worked in healthcare for almost 3 years, went to school for business and healthcare management, and decided that I no longer wanted to work in that field. While creating this business I was working on my masters and taking courses that enhanced my knowledge of marketing and product development. I would sit in the back of my marketing class and create all these different ideas and brainstorm and look at Pinterest photos and my business baby was born! I knew it was worthwhile when I started to enjoy what I was making, sharing it and just feeling peace while doing it.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am a Charleston, SC native, born and raised! I am 22 years old with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and currently working on my Master’s in Business Administration while working full-time and running my business part-time. Within my business, I provide affordable gift baskets + boxes, chocolate-covered food, and wine boxes for all occasions! What sets my business apart from others is how quickly we respond + fulfill orders. An order can come in Saturday morning and depending on supplies it’s ready by Saturday night. I am mostly proud of the service and personal touches that I provide for my clients with handwritten thank you notes and personal deliveries. I would want all of my potential clients to know that we value them and I always value my customers needs.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I recently paused my business to focus on my mental health and get back to me after a low point in my life at the beginning of this year. We just reopened in September and I have still been playing catch up with social media and marketing emails. I also have accepted a new position at my previous college and working full-time in education and that has been very rewarding and time consuming but helps my business grow. Especially Financially! Through my break, I took time to recenter and figure out who Taylor was outside of my business and accolades and found so many passions that I am now working within education and in other fields and I am so grateful that I had that time to do that.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I feel like a story in my journey that illustrates my resilience would be my life and chapter in life right now. I went through a rough time learning to let people and situations go that mentally drained me to the point of no one recognizing me. And to come back from that stronger and better just shows my resilience. During that time I had a friend say I love how resilient you are and it has stuck with me I don’t think he knows to this day that when he said that to me I was at my absolute lowest in life. So for that comment to be made it helped me understand who I am and who’s I am!
