Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tara Faithful. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Tara, thanks for joining us today. If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
After recognizing the power of subconscious programing and the role hypnosis plays, I started to look up how to become a certified hypnotherapist. I already had a degree in a different field, so going back to school was not really in my plans. I also was working a full-time job and I am a mother of two kids. My schedule was busy, and this would only add more to my plate. Once I did my research and selected a school, I had to decide. It was too much money and too much time for this to just be a hobby and it was so different than my career for the past 11 years. One day, while I was driving my son home from school, I thought to myself “give me a sign if I am meant to go to school to be a hypnotherapist”. I turned on the radio and that is when I heard the lyrics loud in clear through the radio, “I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes, I saw the sign…no one’s going to drag you up to get into the life where you belong.” I immediately started crying because I just knew this was going to be a journey of my soul’s purpose.
It was the best decision I ever made, and I have never looked back. I currently work with clients in 1:1 hypnotherapy sessions, group sessions and I also the host introduction to self-hypnosis learning sessions. I help my clients release unwanted beliefs and behaviors, such as lack of confidence and self-worth, anxiety, stress and panic, so they can live their desired fulfilling lives.
Everyone is born with natural gifts we are meant to share with the world. These gifts aren’t always easily known to us because they come so naturally. We think everyone thinks or feels the same as we do. I take care of myself in order to be my best self and share my gifts for my client’s benefit. I am most proud of my clients. They are amazing people who recognize they are struggling and are brave enough to start the healing journey. Healing isn’t linear. Healing is a never-ending journey of peeling back a layer at a time and understanding yourself better, in order to make necessary changes. It is hard work, but every issue healed makes space for new and amazing experiences.
I care so much about my clients, and I always make sure I hold a calm space for them to release trapped emotions and dig deep into their triggers and traumatic experiences. It is so beautiful when they can create a new behavior and release the old. Especially because some of the behaviors impact their ability to take care of their responsibilities and live an enjoyable life.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I believe, for someone to be truly successful in any role, but especially in hypnotherapy, it needs to be something they are aligned to do. Being in alignment feels like work isn’t work and instead of being burnt out, you are left feeling energized and fulfilled. I also think it is important for a hypnotherapist to take care of themselves and ensure they show up as the best version of themselves to each client session. Our clients are looking to us to help guide them through their healing process and it isn’t easy to do this when we are not our best selves.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
In my journey of being a hypnotherapist, I was grateful enough to shadow some of the greats in the field. When I started my own practice, I tried to emulate them. I quickly realized, although there was so much value and learnings from shadowing others in the practice, I was stifling my authenticity and the gifts that came natural to me. I was forcing and pushing, even when not everything I learned truly resonated with me.
Learn from others and experiment but keep only what feels natural. The rest should come from you. Like I mentioned before, we all have unique gifts that come natural to us and those gifts are what set us apart from others. Those gifts also are meant to be experienced by others, so being a carbon copy of someone else just does not work.
