We were lucky to catch up with Tamia Wells recently and have shared our conversation below.
Tamia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the best or worst investment you’ve made?
My best investment was the time dedicated to my children. From an early age I recognized their gifts and talents. If it wasn’t for them, I would have never been able to transition so smoothly from one industry to another. I worked in the beauty industry for years before transitioning to Artist Management and then owning a record label titled Cruzn Cozy Records LLC.
While I worked, I invested in my children education, sending them to performing arts schools and auditioning them for Disney. I was consistent and I pushed them to entertain as early as the age of 3. We are a team of innovator’s and they are my greatest investment and accomplishment.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am the co-founder of Cruzn Cozy Records. We are an independent record label who focuses of community outreach, youth outreach, artist development, entertainment business, sync placement and informational networking events. What sets us apart from others is we strive to put our artist first. Our main focus is to make sure that our artist are properly educated in the industry so that they will never be taken advantage of. Unlike other labels, all business that we conduct is fair and mutually beneficial. Im most proud of thriving in the music/entertainment industry as a Black women and having a business with my family. In the near future I am most excited about merging our label with a major label. My most desired label is RCA Records/Sony Music. Not only do I feel that the quality of the company’s work aligns with ours but RCA Records is the only major label that pushes the artist to be trailblazers in the world.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Coming from a community where there is a lot of crime, systemic racism and the people don’t know how to support someone with dreams. I had to unlearn a lot of learned behaviors and fight against generational curses. We didn’t have dinners where we talked about creating wealth and assets for the next generation. I’ve always had a different mindset from my peers and was oftened ridiculed or ostracized for being able to speak in a professional manner. Having to fight against those learned lesson is seemingly tiresome, it can make you feel trapped amongst people that you look like, but have no connection too. Looking back I have always know that life would be great, based upon the big dreams I held for successful. The backstory for Tamia Wells is that I have always wanted to be free like a bird and now I’m soaring high like an eagle.
How’d you meet your business partner?
I met my co-funder/business partner about 25 years ago. Chrissy Goobache is the main artist at Cruzn Cozy Records, who specializes in Theatrical RNB and Jazz. Chrissy wears a lot of hats, not only is she my artist but she is also my daughter. I admire Chrissy because she is a product of the best part of me. As a child, I supported and nurtured her many talents. When you see a child that shines bright, you can’t help but to love them. Chrissy is tenacious, driven, creative, hardworking and enterprising. She is a well-rounded human being who is Godly and fair and I love working with her.
