We were lucky to catch up with Tiffany Sedano recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Tiffany thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I was in my undergrad at CSUSB sitting in a Theatre 100 course contemplating changing my major from Anthropology to Pre-Med. I had a clear sense of direction up until that point. I knew i wanted to be an Anthropologist and learn about people. But once in the basic level anthropology courses i realized i didn’t want to learn about people in that way; there was no life behind the studying of life in the way i thought it would be. I was contemplating going into medicine because it was a way to be around people and fulfill that purpose of resonating with people, that connection, the energy exchange. But i didn’t want to deal with the sad realities that come with being in medicine- e.g death, cancer, etc. So i am sitting there, waiting for the course to start when a petite blonde woman comes to the front of the class, and she drops her bag. She says her name is Carol Damgen and she is here to talk to us about Theatre. She then goes into a Monologue from a piece she had done previously and she filled that room with emotion-filled me with emotion, it was damn near transcendent. She triggered so many emotions within me in a matter of minutes that i became an addict to the energy she was sharing. I knew in that moment that i wanted to do the exact same thing and it meant i had to be a creative. I just had to figure out at what capacity

Tiffany, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Hello, My name is Tiffany Sedano I am the owner of Louder with Powder. We are a luxury beauty squad that assists with skin care health and skin care recommendations,. We provide Makeup Services and Hairstyling Services for Weddings and all other occasions. Lastly, we are your quintessential Hype Girls spreading good times and happy vibes.
Shortly after my first course in Theatre and with my Major change to Theatrical Arts with a Makeup Design emphasis, I knew i wanted to tell stories at all mediums. I did the footwork and started networking with industry Makeup Artists and Hairstylists while still earning my BA. I worked a plethora of free gigs to become acquainted with anyone in the industry. 10 years later and a full time career in film, commercial and television- i decided to chase the energy i felt in that class room all those years ago.
I was asked to do a wedding (which i had never done before) two makeup applications, the bride and mother of the bride. These woman and their reactions to what I provided them was the energy i had been seeking out and the purpose I didn’t realize i wanted to fulfill. I began researching and saw a need for Makeup artists in the Wedding industry whose technique was softer and true to what these woman looked like while still having the coverage. So i tried my hand at weddings and in the first year of working the wedding circuit I was the Key Makeup artist and Hairstylist for a styled wedding shoot for Styled Shoots Across America, published well over 20 times nationally and internationally and was booked solidly with wedding clients 2 years in advance.
I branded as Louder with Powder in that same year, and the name of my business is literally an extension of my personality and who i am. I, Tiffany, am loud and positively boisterous. I love laughing and filling a room with happiness and good feelings. I love the memories that my clients have with me in their most intimate and special moments of their lives. I use music as my way of relating to my clients because i have such an extensive knowledge of music (thanks to my parents for that one!) and i feel like you can really connect with people through music. We use music to feed our souls and to comfort us. I want to create that level of comfort through my interaction with my clients and i start with music.
I think what sets me apart from other creatives working in the Wedding Industry has everything to do with my approach to my clients. Clearly i am a business, and clearly they are hiring for a service, But i never want the client to feel like its a transaction. I want them to know that they have me fully present and dedicated to them and their needs throughout the planning process and in the future. In my time of working weddings i have come to the realization that planning this level of events for your family and friends is stressful; and, sometimes your family and friends can make it even more stressful. My Girls need someone in their corner all ways, always. That is what i provide them. I provide a makeup application that is Naturally You, Beautifully Elevated, Hairstyling of your dreams in a fun and safe atmosphere. My Girls trust me and my team fully and it will always be an honor to assist in these special moments for them.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
The best way to support artists and creatives is to HIRE them, PURCHASE their artwork, and SAY their names in a room full of opportunity.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to create something that makes my client exude confidence. That level of confidence is seen, heard and felt. There is nothing better than that
