We were lucky to catch up with Jake Demo recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Jake thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

I knew pretty early on that I wanted to do this job. Around 8th grade this girl I had a huge crush on wanted me to do the school play so of course I auditioned and to my surprise I got a lead. It never worked out with the girl but I found my passion! I knew from that experience that I wanted to do this for the rest of my life. I’ve never looked back.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

My name is Jake Demo, I’m an actor from Leawood Kansas. I decided to move to LA after high school and follow my passion. I attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts where I honed my craft. After graduating I started working on a sketch comedy show with two of my friends Alex Matthews and Mason Kennerly. It’s called Unearthed Tapes and you can find us on Youtube. I find it so fulfilling to work on projects that me and my friends have put time into writing, shooting, editing, and marketing. When people enjoy the videos that we make with Unearthed Tapes it makes me happier than anything because I know how much hard work we’ve all put into those projects.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

Early on when we created Unearthed Tapes we were focused on try to get views and we quickly found out that we were gonna get burned out if we kept that up. We still have a high standard for the content we put out but we focus more on stuff we enjoy filming or things that we think are funny.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

For me the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is always doing what I love. I don’t have to do things that I dread on a day to day basis and that makes life so much more enjoyable.
