We were lucky to catch up with Sarah Karp recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
My interest in healing started early in life. As a child, the common narrative of those around me was that illness, disease, and suffering were inevitable parts of aging. Even so young, I remember feeling confused as to why people just accepted this disempowerment as truth. If you believe you’re powerless, then how does that change the decisions you make? Your daily or weekly choices that dictate your habits and overall lifestyle? Well, as the saying goes: if you fight for your limitations, you get to keep them!
I chose to believe, instead, in the limitless possibilities of healing. While this journey started with myself, my vision expanded and evolved over the years. My life’s purpose is truly to elevate the collective consciousness, empowering others in their health and wellness journeys as well.

Sarah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
In undergrad, I pursued psychology. Like most people who pursue this path, my goal was to first understand myself. Why do I think and act the way I do? As a byproduct, I was able to better understand others too. But I felt that there was a gap in just viewing people through a disease-centered model, and ultimately felt drawn to offering healing beyond traditional talk therapy. My next step was a Masters in Health and Wellness Coaching, where the main focus was positive psychology. This expanded model included how to get people from their baseline to thriving (rather than just surviving).
As a perpetual learner and growth-seeker, I then ventured into the realm of Medical Qigong – a Chinese Medicine approach to healing that incorporates energy work, visualization, enhanced sensory experiences, and more. During sessions, I felt thrilled to call upon positive psychology to enhance my clients’ recovery and healing. Relief from physical issues like back pain, stress, anxiety, irregular digestion, and more was common. As a bonus, my intuition was developing and I “saw” blockages or stagnation resulting from physical, mental, or emotional issues. These perceptions further guided my ability to offer healing and support in a personalized way.
Beyond Medical Qigong sessions, I resonated so profoundly with the personal practice of qigong that I began teaching weekly classes. This ancient Chinese style of healing mind, body, and spirit blends mindful movement, breath, visualization, and meditation. As someone who’s experienced severe anxiety, depression, and chronic pain, this practice provided such a potent lifeline. I had to offer it to others, and in 2018 Qigong Health and Wellness, LLC was officially born. The benefits from qigong are truly limitless. It decreases blood pressure, anxiety, stress, breathing irregularities, back pain, chest pressure, and tightness in the neck, back, shoulders, and hips. Qigong supports you in feeling calm, relaxed, mentally clear and focused. inspired, courageous, and so much more. My tag line: “If you have a problem, there’s a qigong move for that!”
Each month, I offer a new qigong flow based in Traditional Chinese Medicine, where the seasons are associated with various elements, organs, colors, sounds, etc. During my recent summer practice where we were healing the heart and calming anxiety, nervousness, restlessness, and insomnia, a new student reached out to me. She has heart issues and is working with a cardiologist, and wondered if it was safe to join our practice. It was the perfect time for her to participate, and after two classes, she had an incredible discovery. She wore a heart monitor for two days, and it reported 98% less palpitations than previously, and the only change she’d made was qigong!
Along my journey, I discovered my absolute love for cultivating health and wellness experiences. I’ve offered healing events for sleep, mindful eating, fire cider, stress-management, calming anxiety with acupressure, setting intentions, detox, and more. During covid, these in-person experiences transitioned to online, and I felt grateful for the opportunity to continue being of service (safely!).
My business continued to expand with my most recent educational pursuit: Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), which is a style of hypnotherapy. I felt thrilled to incorporate healing the subconscious mind and overcoming limiting beliefs and patterns into my services. There’s a reason for everything we do, although we may not be aware of the root cause. RTT delves into the root causes, bringing them into our awareness so we can move forward unencumbered.
There are so many styles of healing, and part of our journey is finding those which most resonate with what we need in any given moment.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Throughout my upbringing, I was conditioned to believe through consistent action that I couldn’t trust nor rely on myself to succeed. That someone else always needed to help me. This conditioned mental limitation wasn’t malicious, but it severely impacted my self-belief and what I thought I could achieve by myself nevertheless.
With a strong, confident mindset, I truly believe that we can accomplish anything we choose to. With confidence comes the drive to keep pushing forward, regardless of any setbacks. Perseverance is the greatest predictor of success. We can absolutely always be a better version of ourselves, remembering to compete against who we were yesterday, a year ago, a decade ago. With a resilient mindset, we keep going until we find the solutions!

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I’ve found so much value in following the insights of Dean Graziosi and Tony Robbins. Thought-leaders who continually inspire and elevate your mindset are absolutely essential to have among your healing community and tribe!
