We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Katelyn Lehman a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Katelyn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you recount a time when the advice you provided to a client was really spot on? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
All healing comes from within. Allow that to sink in and take root. It may not blossom over night, but if you nourish the seed with self-acceptance, love, and gratitude, you will heal your way forward.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My whole adult life I’ve been fascinated with the intersection between micro- and macro- level change. Some might even say I’ve been obsessed with trying to understand the nature of reality and how we, as conscious agents of our own lives, can develop tools to address some of the most pressing issues facing our collective society.
My career has given me the privilege of serving diverse communities from all walks of life, both in Los Angeles and abroad. After over a decade of clinical work and through my own self-healing inquiry, I decided to build a wellness community in the heart of Los Angeles along the beautiful LA River, just north of DTLA.
At Quantum Clinic, we believe that all healing is a result of empowerment and awareness building. People are yearning for another way, and there is a major shift occurring in the collective at this time in our evolutionary journey. This shift is akin to a remembrance, an awakening, rooted in an ancient understanding of the fundamental interconnectedness of all things.
Think of Quantum Clinic as a community of practice, a space for deep inner healing, and a place to REST.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Presence. There’s no other gift like it.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Absolutely! Prior to the pandemic I envisioned returning to a more traditional model of private practice. I had completed my post-doctoral training under the supervision of a psychologist who trained me to conduct psychological assessments used in medical-legal and immigration cases. I have always enjoyed working at the intersection of health- and legal- settings, but in order to practice as a licensed psychologist you have to pass a test called the EPPP. I took it once, and missed the passing score by one question. So I studied hard and prepared to sit for the exam again. I failed a second time. My score was even lower.
After nearly a decade of working towards the goal of becoming a licensed psychologist, I failed. Not just once, but twice.
So I decided to pivot and enrolled in a business analytics program at Harvard University, wrote my first book, and started Quantum Clinic.
