We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Manmeet Kaur. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Manmeet below.
Alright, Manmeet thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission is to not only create a beautiful outer shell but to take a inside out approach. I strive to achieve excellence and constantly improve my artistry and dance techniques to enrich the entire experience from the audience to my clients. I believe that the actions of one can impact and change the worlds of many. It’s meaningful to me to make an impact in peoples lives whether that is through performing or through approaching beauty from an inside out approach.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Manmeet Kaur, I am 24 years old. I currently live in Northridge, CA. I graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 2022. After struggling to get a job in the marketing industry, I realized that I need to pursue my true passion for beauty.
My love for all things beauty has been with me since I was young, watching my mom put on makeup. As I grew up I got the opportunity to explore makeup in high school. I was in the marching band (color guard) where we had to do performance makeup. Ever since then I have been hooked.
Dancing professionally in the industry here in LA and working as a makeup artist for 6+ years has not only given me experience in the industry but it has given me a taste of a career I absolutely love.
I love being creative and out there. I love experimenting with artistic makeup as well as bridal and special occasions.
I love dancing and expressing myself in various forms of art. If there is anything I have learned this past year, it is that my passion lies within making people comfortable in their own skin, whether it’s through performance or makeup. I love being able to make people feel happy and beautiful inside and out.
I am most proud of my growth in providing services to my clients. Going back to school to further my education in Esthetics was a tough decision but something I definitely do not regret doing as it has grown my love for the arts.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
After receiving my bachelors in Business Administration and marketing I found myself at a cross roads with the job I thought I wanted and what my true passions really were. After trying to find a job in the marketing world and failing miserably I realized it was time to tap into my true potential and passion in beauty. Thus, my decision to go to esthetician school and putting my degree to use in other ways.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
At heart I have always been an artistic person with a passion and an eye for artistry specifically makeup artistry. Growing up I never though being a makeup artist could be a possible career for me. It was always the traditional route of going to school and getting a degree. But through that I started makeup and I did something different, I decided to share my passion with the world. At first no one was watching but I started to put myself out there consistently. It was with true resilience that I was able to get somewhere.
