We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shayne Wells a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shayne , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Going from idea to execution took a few years, as the idea of originating the concept of starting my own business, specifically within social media and marketing, was an ongoing process and I remember just wanting it to be perfect. During college, I interned, took extra classes to perfect the “craft” and worked with a few mentors that guided me in the right directions, and the business idea was developed in 2016.
The idea is just the beginning as there’s so much that goes behind launching your own business. You have to consider all of your marketing tools, including a name, branding, logos, website themes, etc. The type of niche of business services you wanted to offer to clients, as well as the process of getting clients, it really is a whole new world of strategizing, developing, and execution. Upon launching my social media agency in 2020, I took the four years to really develop the brand, dive more into the industry, and overall, took the time to tap into my own creativity and how I can make my client’s experiences different and unique. I also stopped along the way to complete my master’s degree in marketing, which was so worth it!
After some time, I realized I wasn’t going to perfect everything that I was working on, and that was the beauty of it. So, I finally took the jump in 2020 to finally launch and announce the business. Since then, I’ve extended the business and continued my education to help my clients a step further as a certified life coach, and the journey still continues!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Brikmoda Social is a small (but mighty), social media agency! We love focusing on local clients in our hometown of Ventura County, but we work with multiple clients in different states as well. We offer services such as social media management, content creation, influencer marketing, paid social, and public relations. We also have the events side of Brikmoda, where we specialize in wedding planning and events!
As an additional extension and most recent addition, we offer life coaching to our clients as well. Life coaching services consist of executive coaching, including what the next step in your career or business looks like, as well as personal coaching! This extension has truly connected us more to our clients and excited to continue to offer this service.
As a small business and creators, we always make our client experiences personal and unique. We treat all of our clients as if they were a part of our professional network and always want you and your brand/company/services to succeed! If you decide to work with us, it’s an ongoing fun, inclusive and exciting collaboration and absolutely love every path we came across.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
In freelancing or contract work, finding clients can be a challenge for some, and definitely something I had to learn! The best source of new clients for me, especially at the very beginning, was word of mouth, but also online platforms like UpWork! I was able to land two of my first clients from UpWork and it was a positive experience all around.
Continue to do your research and don’t be afraid to market yourself, you’re just as important as your brand! Social media marketing is a key for people to find you and the services you offer, so don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We love keeping in touch with previous and potential clients. We regularly communicate through personalized emails, newsletters, and social media updates to keep our clients updated about our company, industry insights, and and any special promotions. Additionally, we actively seek and value our client’s feedback and provide personalized experiences and services to build trust and foster brand loyalty. Being consistent is also the key to building brand loyalty!
