Josh & Amy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?

FAVORYT was created to fill the gaps that we were struggling to find in the industry. Josh lost his hair at 22 years old. It was at that moment he decided to get more creative with growing his beard. He tried many of the products on the shelves and found that his beard and skin needed more moisture and that the chemicals were damaging his skin. He battled through severe beard itch and dandruff before deciding to research making his own products. It was after confirmation from friends and family that he made it his mission to help other men achieve their beard goals with all natural products. Josh and I both saw an opportunity for natural hair and beard care styling on the go. As a busy mom of four, I was tired of not having an easy convenient way to style or touch up our hair on the go. I was frustrated with my only options being messy, sticky gels or toxic hairsprays. Then trying to find a comb or brush in my purse. This is why we have spent the last year developing an on-the-go, all natural, hassle-free styling tool for hair and beards. Quick touch ups before pictures, weddings, dance recitals and other important events or just for everyday use! Our mission at FAVORYT has always been Natural, Simple, and Effective. We are dedicated to helping people feel confident about what their putting on their hair and skin and confident in themselves!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?

Josh lost his hair at 22 years old which took a toll on his confidence. He decided to get more creative with growing out his beard. He tried many of the products on the shelves and found that his beard and skin needed more moisture and that the chemicals were damaging his skin. He has extremely sensitive skin and battled through severe beard itch, dandruff, and patchy areas before deciding to research making his own products. We found that a lot of the beard products on the market are the same basic formulas, often private labeled and full of harmful chemicals or useless fillers. We decided that each ingredient we use would have a purpose. No fillers or harmful chemicals. We spent months testing different formulas to find the perfect blends of premium oils.

For men with beards, our products can help relieve beard itch and dandruff as well as promote healthy growth. Giving the beard an overall healthy, full, clean look and smell.

We are most proud of our upcoming, patent pending, all-in-one hair styling tool because it is unlike anything on the market. The beard styling tool will allow for men to touch up their beards while traveling or out and about.

The on-the-go hair styling tool will allow for people to style hair in a quick, easy way. It fits in a purse and offers a hassle free, all natural way to put loose hairs back in place! We know that there’s a constant pressure to look our best all the time, but sometimes when we’re out and about, it can be hard to do. We want people to feel confident and prepared with what they have in their bag to touch up their hair easily in seconds; without sacrificing their health to do it.

We have always been particular about which products we use on our children so I was always skeptical about using harsh gels or sprays on their edges. Our formula not only helps to hold hair in place, but it also has ingredients that promote growth!

We would love followers to keep an eye out for our hair styling tool as well as our kids foaming body wash that will be launching this year.

What makes us different aside from our new tool coming out? We personally mix, pour, package and label each product to ensure quality control. As we grow, we plan to offer employment opportunities in our area. We are passionate about providing people with sensitive skin and dry or coarse hair the moisture and premium products they deserve! Men and particularly the ethnic hair community have been subject to chemical filled products for years… we’re providing a natural, easy solution!

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

The biggest hurdle we’ve had to overcome in launching FAVORYT was that we have 4 young children. Aside from the financial stress, managing our time to work other jobs while growing the business through cohorts, classes and programs has been difficult at times. In December of last year, we found out that Amy had developed blood clots in her abdomen following a surgery. Even though it took months of recovery, we were able to think long term and use that time to focus on next steps for the business. We’ve balanced health issues and raising 4 kids together while bootstrapping the business and working through product development. Our business hasn’t grown overnight, however it’s growing at a steady, organic rate and we’re setting up the foundation for larger, faster growth.

We keep in touch with clients through social media and our subscriber emails. We love seeing their beard progress pictures and supporting them and their overall growth. We foster brand loyalty by giving early access, sneak peeks, discounts, and giveaways to our FAVORYT Fam! We also love to pop up in the community to events and stay connected to our partner barbershops.
