We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jake + Zach Scally. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jake + Zach below.
Jake + Zach, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project we’ve worked on is our upcoming debut EP, “KEEP HOPIN’ // KEEP DREAMIN’. This has been an album we’ve been working on for over a year and a half. We’ve had these songs in our hearts, but we are excited to get these new melodies and truths out.
Our first single we released from the album is Keep Hopin’ — an epic, sweeping musical landscape that encompasses themes of ambition, dreams, and purpose. We were blown away by the love and support we received from this song. Currently, it sits at over half a million streams world wide. God has been so good to us! We’ve also released a few others such as Defined By You, Right On Time, and YOU.
The reason this project has been so special to us is because these are the first songs we’ve released since taking the leap to full time ministry. Seeing God use these songs, and the incredible ways they’ve ministered to us and our families, has been a blessing.
Jake + Zach, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We are Jake + Zach, also known as, The Scally Brothers. We are a musical duo from Toledo, Ohio. From an early age we developed a passion for our faith and love of all things music. We’ve released a handful of songs–some of them you may have heard on the radio. We are currently working on our debut album, which includes one of our favorites Keep Hopin’.
This song features a hypnotic wave of rhythm and electronic sounds. The lyrics cut through the societal noise to remind us about what is important in our life: “If there is breath in your lungs, God is not done yet. We have to KEEP HOPIN’ & KEEP DREAMIN’!”
God has blessed us in so many incredible ways. When we wake up every morning, we always tell God thank you for all He has blessed us with. We owe it to Him, our community, and ourselves to pour all we have into our ministry. We approach every show from a heart of serving. We are here to serve the wonderful people, staff, and fans who make these tours possible.
We believe our newest songs fit in perfectly with today’s Christian music artists, where acts ranging from “for KING & COUNTRY” to “Matt Maher” to “Chris Tomlin” to “TobyMac” are proclaiming themes of hope, prayer, and joy. We strive to create an environment of full control to Jesus.
Our philosophy and method of leading worship ultimately comes from a heart of surrender. When we are surrendered we can worship freely knowing that the Holy Spirit will lead us where we need to go next. Leading worship holds such a special place in our heart because we don’t do this for our glory or fame, we do this for His. God will be praised and He will get the glory! We give Him our best just like the Father has given us His best (Jesus Christ). So in that time of surrender we lay everything at His feet.
We strongly believe in the phrase, “Worship isn’t about what you get, it is about what you give.” We pray as a group before we take the stage and always include a simple, but heartfelt few lines like… God tonight is Your night, it’s not about us, it’s not about what we can gain, but this is Your show, Your stage, and Your children who You have called together. Let us be Your hands and Your feet, Lord, and we pray that the people here tonight will see a glimpse of Jesus through us. Tonight is not about The Scally Brothers, it’s all about You. Come Holy Spirit and let Your will be done. Amen.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Our mission is to revive the youth of the Church and bring a new energy to its people. A bible verse that is modeled for our group comes from the book of Philippians: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).
We are trying to lead more people to Jesus. Music is a great way to give that invitation!
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
SHARE SHARE SHARE. It takes a village to help artists and bands continue to do music full time. Sharing social media posts, giving encouragement, as well as sharing the love of Jesus are great ways to continue to help empower artists–and help their songs be heard.
