We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jenny Hollis. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jenny below.
Jenny , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Innovation comes in all shapes, sizes and across all industries, so we’d love to hear about something you’ve done that you feel was particularly innovative.
Something I love about being an artist and a musician is I get to incorporate my artwork with my music. I have the opportunity to design my own song artwork for my music releases as album covers and also sell my pieces and music on my website.

Jenny , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Jenny Hollis. I am a commission artist and musician from Nashville, Tennessee but I do not conform to the archetype of a Nashville musician. My lyrics are derived from a multitude of challenging experiences and the triumph over trauma.
As an artist, I am passionate about producing dark art that incorporates vibrant color palettes or charcoal.
What I am most proud of is my ability to openly discuss mental health and share my personal journey through my music and art in hopes of helping others to do the same.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Enduring emotional abuse for many years has taken a toll on my psychological and physical health. I could never have imagined surpassing such a period in my life. However, the sense of joy I experience each day, along with the realization that I am worthy of something extraordinary in my life, fills me with peace and happiness.
This is why I write my music because if I can help one human see a glimmer of hope, I have done my job as a musician.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
It’s important to acknowledge that not everyone possesses the same level of transparency as you do, especially in the music industry. It can be disheartening to realize that not everyone has your best interests at heart. I’ve personally experienced instances where I placed my complete trust in individuals whom I believed to be genuinely kind-hearted and they took advantage of that.
