We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Alysha Diaz . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Alysha below.
Alysha, appreciate you joining us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
I would show customers I appreciated them by doing giveaways. I had a lot of sales for my bonnets and I called them bow-nets because of the style. I wanted to let my customers know that my business isn’t just a business and wanting money from it. I actually value people that supported me & my vision. it was right to give back

Alysha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the industry in may of 2020 during the pandemic. I was brainstorming on how I could make a difference in the hair community. There were a lot of complaints about not having loyal hairstylists. how hairstylists didn’t care to be professional, cancelling clients appointments & not accommodating or making it up for a next appointment. I wanted to be the difference in the hair community and provide exceptional service while satisfying their needs more than they imagined

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was that my friends would support my business. Only a few friends did while others watched. I know not everyone could afford the hair I sold but I expected at least to repost my content, which is free & no one did that when I needed it the most. If I could afford to support my friends business & craft I would buy from them a lot. social media is the biggest marketing right now & I knew a repost could go a long way as well. I used to put in too much energy into others businesses than I received. I realized it was ok that others friends didn’t support or chose not to. I accepted the fact that my best sales were from strangers!

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
During the pandemic, we had stimulus checks & I was on unemployment. I used that money to invest in equipment for video making, lighting and hair inventory and other products. as well as designing my website & getting my LLC
