We recently connected with Jaamel and have shared our conversation below.

Jaamel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.

There are two things that I do differently from the industry standard. Number one, I keep The Most High first in everything that I do. From producing music to designing clothes to writing songs and books, all of the material is righteous. That’s how YAH LIFE started. Number two, I own everything. I am not involved with or signed to any major record label, major book publisher or major corporation so I own my rights. I can say, do and create what I want because I do not have to answer to anyone. I am able to stay true to myself because of this and I do not have to sacrifice my soul to make a dollar.

Jaamel, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Jaamel. I am a Music Producer, Author and Fashion Designer from Gulfport, MS. I began making music at the age of 15 but I always felt like I had the ability to do more. I connected with myself spiritually by way of The Most High in 2016 which led me to create YAH LIFE Inc., in 2017. I started designing clothes under YAH LIFE Inc., with the slogan Yah Life and later transitioned my music under YAH LIFE as well. I also wrote my first children’s book under YAH LIFE Inc.

I am most proud of being able to spread The Most High’s truth in a fly way. Everyone loves music and I have a way to slide a message into my music while making you move at the same time. Everyone loves clothes and I have a way to slide a message into my clothing while making you look fly. Children have to learn to read and I have a way to slide a message into my books while helping children learn.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

My goal is to wake up as many of my people that I possibly can. When I say “wake up”, I mean helping my people understand who they are, which is The Most High’s chosen people.

How did you build your audience on social media?

There is a lane for everyone. Before you can gain any kind of audience, you first have to understand who you are and who you want to target. I found my audience by searching for people who had interest in the material that I created. My materials are focused on The Most High, so I searched for people who had The Most High in their profiles or posts. I would follow these people and they would look at my profile and spread my information to their followers.
