We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rashod Harris a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Rashod, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
So I’m Rashod. I’m 38. And I’m building a multi-million dollar content agency. This is my current mission but it is a part of it. I say this in my videos because I want to document the process of building a multi-million dollar business coming from Virginia. A lot of people feel like it’s impossible to follow your dreams and become successful but I want to be living proof that it is possible if you work your face off and do the things that matter the most to you.
Rashod, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
So my company, The Rebel Society creates VISIBILITY. Most businesses and brands that start out really only have two problems. Either their product or service just isn’t good or their desired audience doesn’t know about them. We can’t help with the first one, but that second one, we are excellent at that.
We take regular everyday content creation to the next level by really understanding our clients as well as our clients’ clients.
We offer content creation, social media management, rebranding services, and more.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
This is something that I am actively doing right now. But over the last couple of months, I have been building up my social media following. I’ve been able to do it by doing a couple of things, which are.
– Have a mission. I say my mission at the beginning of every video that I put out so people become accustomed to who I am and what it is that I’m doing.
– Make content with a person in mind. When I put out any piece of content, I make the videos with one person in mind. That is the version of me from 10 years ago that was just starting but had no idea what I was doing. So every piece of content is something that version of me would have loved to hear from someone.
– Add value. This is something that is commonly talked about on the internet but it is true. Instead of just showing random things, post something that people can take something tangible away from.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
To be honest, my whole journey illustrates resilience. Being an entrepreneur is definitely one of the hardest things I’ve ever done besides being married. This life isn’t for the weak at all. My entrepreneur journey has just seen its fair share of ups and downs over the years and then adding in the fact of running a business during Covid when you really couldn’t be in front of people threw a whole monkey wrench into everything that I was doing at that time.
