We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jason Luc. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jason below.
Alright, Jason thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I started my journey into photography with an, admittedly, simple ethos: capture moments with visually-captivating appeal. And I noticed a common denominator among photos that are well-received, especially portraits: very soft, out-of-focus areas. AKA: “Bokeh”. At some point, I started focusing on reaching out to people for portrait photos, so I felt that going with a name that optimizes and emphasizes qualities associated with portraits was the way to go, hence “Project Bokeh”!
Jason, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Art is created and conveyed through various mediums. We have music, painting, dancing, acting and more. I can’t say that I have the talent to express through those means and I’ve always been envious of those who are. However, there is one form of expression that I can confidently say that I’m adept at–photography.
We’re fortunate to live in a world with endless beauty. Photography has been my way of capturing, memorizing and sharing everything spectacular that it has to offer. Nothing makes me feel more fulfilled than snapping a shot in the exact right place and at the exact right time.
More immediately, photography has been the medium in which I help other express pride and confidence from within themselves to the world. And that’s why I came up with “Project Bokeh Photography”–to help capture other people’s prides and accomplishments and spreading them to a wider audience.
It is both my pride and privilege to meet models and other creatives and work together with them to convey their passion, courage and talents to the world!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is not having to subscribe to any conventional business model or even artistic standard. I’m able to blaze with my work.
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
I consciously reach out to them via social media and propose ideas for shoots, especially right before spring and the cherry blossoms bloom. That’s when I feel most inspired and energized!
