We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sinora Glenn a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sinora , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Have you signed with an agent or manager? Why or why not?
Well, over the past 6 years I’ve booked some amazing projects without having an agent or manager. Actually, my very first National commercial in 2014 was a self book for “Swiffer Sweep & Trap” ( I booked it without an agent or Mgr ). I was satisfied with self booking until I realized that I would need an agent in order to book more larger paying projects. Let’s just say ..Big commercials pays BIG Bucks … lol. I recently decided to signed with Pantheon Management Partners for commercial & Theatrical representation. It’s a lot involved when it comes to negotiating contracts and making sure that I’m paid what I’m suppose to be paid and on time. I’m happy to have an agent to look out for me, because when I make money my agent makes money . I had my first theatrical audition for a major role a few days ago and I’m currently in a National commercial for “ Always Discreet” … thanks to my agent! I’m looking forward to this new beginning and can’t wait to see what my future holds.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Sinora, I was born in ALABAMA but I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.. In 2015 I booked my first national commercial Swiffer” along with my real son Chris Glenn ). What an absolute Blessing because the commercial aired in US & in Canada . My family and I relocated to California in 2015. I started working right away booking commercials, short films and brand Ambassador work. I was featured on ABBOTT ELEMENTARY as a substitute teacher for Sheryl Lee Ralph . I was fortunate to book a role on American Gangster Queen on BET plus . Even though most of my time is working in the industry, however I love to sew & cook . I’m a 3rd generation seamstress and I’m a fashion designer for my son Chris Glenn clothing brand “ Brand62”. I love to sew … it’s a passion. & a gift ! Cooking flavorful meals is what I love. My mom Annette ( REST IN PEACE) taught me how to cook and especially homemade cornbread dressing . I have learned my moms recipe to perfection . Now I’m teaching my son how to master a great meal .
I’m thrilled about everything getting back to Normal with the strike being over soon.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
When I first started posting videos & pics on social media I was totally excited about it. I love to sew, I’m actually a 3rd generation seamstress. I introduced my audience to my sewing room and I would go live designing outfits. I also love to cook, you can follow my cooking page on IG .. CC_COZY_KITCHEN. When I started posting food videos of me preparing meals from start to finish I gained my audience right away. I’ll never forgot when I first started grilling I named my grill “Orange Peel” because my grill is literally the color orange … hahaha. Everyone started asking me .. Are you cooking on Orange Peel tonight ? One thing about me is that I’m always going to be myself and have fun. People absolutely love my personality. I can honestly say that it’s been easy gathering my audience .. .. I Love Them !!!
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was born in ALABAMA and raised pretty much most of my adult life in Wisconsin. When I relocated to California I quickly realized that I was in a totally different part of our country that seemed foreign to me. Wisconsin is more laid back & basic, which I absolutely adored. California seems very competitive and oddly different… but in a good way. I guess. The traffic, honking horns and the fact that everything is more expensive here ( gas , food, rent) surely made me second guess my decision. I quickly had to look for ways to resolve or at least improve any situation. I started being apart of this industry and booking projects it started becoming easier. I can honestly say it has been mentally challenging and many times I thought about throwing in the towel. At the end of the day I kept the FAITH and I’m so proud of myself for hanging in there …. I’m Worth It!
