We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Roxana Izquieta. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Roxana below.
Roxana, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I first learned I wanted to pursue a creative path was when I was a child, I have always been interested in art and paintings. My father was an art collector with an amazing style and a keen eye for art, our home was always full of paintings, especially by the artist Nagel. Sadly, I had to start my artistic path as an adult because a family tragedy. I lost my father to suicide in 2016 and I can say I will never be the same again. I used art to help me cope, I didn’t want to drown in depression or start self medicating. I started painting abstract, then became interested in making sculptural candles and finally creating jewelry. It has become my passion and I absolutely love it. I started my small business in 2019 and it has thrived ever since.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born in Brooklyn, Ny in 1976 and raised in Los Angeles. I.m a mother of two girls who are 17 and 23.I have a background in airbrush artistry and am also an Esthetician. My creative process was not by accident. I have always appreciated the arts and have always had a certain esthetic about myself. In 2019 I decided to start a small business in the beauty industry but when Covid hit that changed. I decided to use my artistic and eccentric ideas in making candles and handmade jewelry. Every single piece of jewelry and candle design I create is obsessively made with high emotion and passion. I’m totally invested in everything I make. I believe my creativity helps me look at things in a unique perspective. Anyone who buys or wears one of my pieces has a piece of my heart.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative artist is witnessing your own growth and the ability to make something out of nothing. Creativity opens the mind and I feel like society has lost its touch. We shouldn’t be closed minded. I will until my aging days continue to be a creative artist as long as I can. I like to specialize in one of a kind customized candle creations such as my Darth David candle. The only one ever created in the world.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I don’t have a large following, but I have definitely gained my followers organically. I like to engage and support business that have consistent content. I try to create an aesthetic feed that will attract like minded businesses and customers who will appreciate my work. I always like to support those who support me and it’s important to respond to comments, likes and messages you receive.
