We were lucky to catch up with Nyahzul Blanco recently and have shared our conversation below.
Nyahzul, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I love that as a tattoo artist I can create projects that are super meaningful for my clients. Pieces where I can tell their stories and give life to them through this art form.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Nyahzul, I am a tattoo artist based in NYC. In the beginning I apprenticed under the legendary Paul Booth and after a couple of years I went on to finish my apprenticeship with the color Master Yomico Moreno. My style is called glitch tattoos and I have been developing it for about a year and half, it is based on vibrational energy which I believe we are all constantly emanating. With my art I hope to give light to my clients, bringing their stories to life through my art on their skin. I feel very proud to do the work I do and want to continue growing for many years to come.

What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
I think taking consciousness that being an artist is a job, not a hobby is an important step to truly support artists, creatives and allow the ecosystem to thrive. When this happens, people give value, support and appreciate the work in a different light.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The freedom of being genuinely who I am. I pour my soul into my work and it allows me to connect on many levels to my clients and create community which is a huge reward.
