Ruben, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Absolutely, I’d love to share a project that holds a special place in my heart. Recently, I had the incredible opportunity to work on recording the song “Solo Que Lo Dudes” by Banda MS and Yahritza y su Esencia. This project was not only musically enriching but also deeply meaningful on a personal level.
The song “Solo Que Lo Dudes” is a beautiful blend of regional Mexican music and heartfelt lyrics. It tells a story of love, commitment, and the importance of trusting one another in a relationship. The collaboration between Banda MS and Yahritza y su Esencia brought together two incredibly talented musical groups, each with their unique style and fan base.
During the recording process, we worked tirelessly to capture the emotional essence of the song. We wanted listeners to feel the sincerity and passion in every note and every lyric. It was a collaborative effort that involved musicians, vocalists, and producers who were all dedicated to bringing out the best in this track.
Furthermore, I had the privilege of witnessing the camaraderie and dedication of both Banda MS and Yahritza y su Esencia. Their commitment to delivering a powerful and authentic performance was inspiring. It was a reminder that great music is not just about the sound but also the heart and soul that goes into it.
In conclusion, recording “Solo Que Lo Dudes” was a project that allowed me to combine my passion for music with a powerful message of trust and love. It was a meaningful experience that reinforced the belief that music has the power to touch hearts and bring people closer together. I’m grateful to have been a part of this project, and I look forward to creating more music that can make a positive difference in the world.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hello everyone, and thank you for the opportunity to share my journey and work with you. My name is Ruben Castro and I’m a recording and mixing engineer based in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. My passion for music and the art of sound engineering has been the driving force behind my career, and I’m excited to give you a glimpse into my world.
My journey into the music industry began at Record Plant Recording Studios, where I started as a runner. It was there that I got my first taste of the behind-the-scenes magic that goes into creating the music we all love. The atmosphere, the energy, and the dedication of the professionals around me were nothing short of inspiring.
As I continued to hone my skills and immerse myself in the world of music production, I quickly moved up the ranks to become an assistant engineer. This role allowed me to work closely with some of the industry’s most talented artists and producers, learning from them and contributing to their creative processes.
Eventually, I transitioned to Just for the Record, where I continued to grow as both an assistant engineer and an engineer in my own right. These experiences were invaluable, providing me with the technical expertise and artistic sensibility needed to excel in the recording and mixing realm.
Today, I specialize in recording and mixing records. It’s not just a job for me; it’s a true passion. I believe that the role of an engineer is to capture and enhance the artist’s vision, to create a sonic landscape that not only sounds incredible but also resonates deeply with the listener.
What sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to excellence and my dedication to bringing out the best in every project. I approach each recording and mixing endeavor as a unique opportunity to craft something extraordinary. Whether it’s a hit single, an album, or a soundtrack, I pour my heart and soul into ensuring that the final product exceeds expectations.
One thing I’m particularly proud of is the diverse range of genres and artists I’ve had the privilege to work with. From indie rock to hip-hop, from emerging talents to Grammy-winning icons, every project has been a learning experience that has enriched my craft.
For potential clients, collaborators, and anyone interested in my work, I want you to know that I’m here to turn your musical dreams into reality. I bring technical expertise, creative vision, and a genuine passion for music to every project. My goal is to help you achieve the sound you envision, whether it’s a clean and polished mix, a vintage analog warmth, or an experimental sonic journey.
So, if you’re looking for a recording and mixing engineer who cares deeply about the music and the artists, someone who will collaborate with you to bring your vision to life, then I’m here and ready to embark on that creative journey with you. Let’s make something extraordinary together
.
Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and my work. I can’t wait to connect with fellow music lovers, creators, and enthusiasts in this exciting journey of sound and artistry.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I once dreamed of becoming a touring DJ and electronic dance music producer, pouring my heart into DJing at local venues and producing tracks. Opening for renowned DJs was thrilling, but the demanding touring lifestyle took a toll on me.
During introspection, I realized a growing interest in sound engineering, mixing, and recording. I made a tough decision to pivot away from touring and pursued a career in audio engineering and production. I immersed myself in courses and mentorship, becoming known for my recording and mixing skills.
Though I didn’t fulfill my dream of touring, I found immense satisfaction in helping other artists bring their music to life. This pivot allowed me to combine my love for music with a passion for technical sound production. It’s a reminder that our dreams can evolve, leading to unexpected but fulfilling destinations.
