Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to 365 My Life. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
365 My Life, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear from you about what you think Corporate America gets wrong in your industry and why it matters.
In the tech and entertainment industry, as well as many other fields, one common mistake that Corporate America often makes is neglecting the importance of work-life balance for their employees. While these industries are known for their excitement and creativity, they can also be notorious for demanding long hours and immense dedication. This can lead to burnout and a lack of true fulfillment for individuals in these fields, as they sacrifice their personal lives for their careers.
One way to address this issue is by encouraging employees to create a “life guide” that helps them achieve a better work-life balance. This guide should encompass their personal goals, career aspirations, and any service or ministry commitments they may have. Here’s an example of someone who successfully created a life guide and someone who did not:
Sarah’s Success Story
Sarah, a software engineer in a tech company, decided to create a life guide for herself. She set clear boundaries for her work hours, prioritized spending time with her family, and pursued her passion for volunteering at a local nonprofit organization. Over the course of 10 years, she achieved a healthy work-life balance, advanced in her career, and found deep fulfillment in her volunteer work. She feels content and happy with where she is in life.
John’s Regret
On the other hand, John, also a software engineer in a similar tech company, didn’t pay much attention to work-life balance. He constantly worked late hours, rarely spent time with his loved ones, and didn’t engage in any outside activities. After a decade of this lifestyle, he realized that he had missed out on important family moments and personal growth opportunities. John now feels angry and regretful about where he is in his life, both personally and professionally.
Corporate America can play a vital role in helping employees achieve better work-life balance and personal fulfillment by taking the following steps:
Promote Work-Life Balance: Companies should actively promote work-life balance as a part of their culture. This includes setting reasonable working hours, encouraging employees to take time off, and providing resources for managing stress and mental well-being.
Educational Programs: Employers can offer workshops and seminars on time management, stress reduction, and goal-setting. These programs can help employees create their own life guides and set priorities.
Flexible Work Arrangements: Offering flexible work arrangements, such as remote work options or flexible hours, can empower employees to better manage their personal and professional lives.
Mentorship and Support: Corporate mentors can guide employees in setting and achieving personal and career goals. Companies can also offer Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) to provide mental health support.
365 My Life’s Strategy: Encourage employees to adopt a holistic approach to life, similar to the “365 My Life” strategy, which focuses on three key aspects: myself, my career, and my ministry. This framework can help individuals maintain balance and fulfillment in all areas of their lives.
In conclusion, the key to success and fulfillment in any industry, including tech and entertainment, lies in achieving a healthy work-life balance. Corporate America should actively support employees in this endeavor by promoting the creation of life guides, offering resources, and fostering a culture that values both personal and professional growth.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
In late 2019, I found myself at a crossroads in my career. I had just created my life guide, a detailed plan for the next decade of my life, and I was brimming with excitement about the path I had laid out. Little did I know that God had a different plan in store for me. Just as I was gearing up to follow my meticulously crafted blueprint, the world was hit by an unexpected curveball – Covid-19.
The onset of the pandemic sent shockwaves through the job market and brought about unprecedented uncertainty. Many people, including myself, were left grappling with questions about the future. It was a challenging time, and the pressure to adapt and make quick decisions was palpable.
As I reflected on my life guide, I realized that I had a choice to make. I could cling to my initial plans, resist change, and hope for the best, or I could embrace the uncertainty and pivot in my career. It was a daunting prospect, considering that I was venturing into an industry I had never considered before – real estate.
With determination and a willingness to step into the unknown, I made the bold decision to enter the real estate business. My motivation was simple – I needed to pay my bills and secure financial stability during these turbulent times. I wasn’t looking to make friends, build extensive networks, or chase after a prestigious job title. My primary goal was to ensure my financial well-being.
What happened next was nothing short of remarkable. The absence of the usual pressures associated with maintaining a job allowed me to approach my new career with a fresh perspective. I was unburdened by the need to network incessantly or meet arbitrary performance metrics. Instead, I focused on delivering exceptional results and honing my skills in the real estate industry.
Surprisingly, this unconventional approach paid off in spades. By concentrating on doing an outstanding job and consistently exceeding expectations, I quickly ascended the ranks within the real estate business. My greenhorn status and lack of experience didn’t deter me; in fact, it became a source of motivation to prove myself.
In a relatively short span of time, I found myself excelling in an industry I had never envisioned entering. The pivot in my career, though born out of necessity, turned into a tremendous opportunity for personal and professional growth. It taught me the invaluable lesson that sometimes, embracing change and adapting to unexpected circumstances can lead to the most significant successes.
My journey from a place of uncertainty to one of achievement serves as a testament to the power of resilience, flexibility, and the willingness to step outside one’s comfort zone. It’s a story that underscores the importance of being open to new possibilities, even when they deviate from the carefully laid plans. This experience has reinforced my belief that in the face of change, we have the capacity to not only survive but thrive, as long as we have the courage to take that initial step into the unknown.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
In the pages of “365 My Life,” I’ve shared my personal journey, a pivotal narrative that involves one crucial concept: unlearning. It’s a journey of shedding old beliefs, ideologies, and habits to make space for fresh perspectives and new opportunities. This transformative process is a cornerstone of the first phase of the 365 My Life blueprint, which focuses on understanding your past to plan for the best future.
In my own life, this process of unlearning was a profound shift, one that required me to confront and erase deeply ingrained patterns of thinking. It’s a process that many of us may need to undergo to truly achieve our goals and create a life that aligns with our desires. Here’s a glimpse into my journey and why unlearning is paramount:
Embracing Change: Throughout my life, I had accumulated knowledge and developed certain ideologies based on my experiences. These beliefs had served as the foundation of my thinking, both personally and professionally. However, as the world evolved and opportunities emerged, I realized that my old ways of thinking were holding me back. Fear, self-doubt, and traditional views were stifling my creative aspirations. It was time for a change.
The Clean Slate: Unlearning doesn’t mean erasing your knowledge or skills. It’s about wiping the slate clean from outdated beliefs and limitations. I took a bold step to rid myself of these mental barriers while preserving the valuable knowledge I had gained. It was like starting with a blank canvas, armed with fresh insights and the willingness to adapt.
The Realities of Time, Money, and Energy: One profound lesson that emerged during this unlearning process was the acknowledgment of three unchangeable factors: time, money, and energy. These are the constants in our lives, and no amount of effort can eliminate them. Instead, we must learn to work within these constraints, making the most of what we have.
The Myth of Doing It All: Unlearning also involved dispelling the myth that we can do and be everything all at once. While we can aspire to greatness, it’s essential to create a systematic workflow that allows us to channel our time, money, and energy effectively. It’s about prioritizing and designing a life guide that leads to genuine fulfillment.
365 My Life: Your Life Guide: This transformative journey inspired the creation of 365 My Life, a life guide designed to help individuals organize their thoughts and passions into a coherent workflow. It’s a blueprint that empowers you to achieve holistic success in three critical life categories: Myself, My Career, and My Ministry.
In essence, unlearning is the first step towards planning for your best life in the coming years. It’s about letting go of old limitations and embracing fresh possibilities. With 365 My Life as your guide, you can navigate this transformative journey with clarity, purpose, and the unwavering belief that your best life is within reach.
