We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Grecia Salamon. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Grecia below.
Hi Grecia, thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a creative? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job? Can you talk to us about how you think through these emotions?
There are times when I definitely wonder, but thankfully I have built a career that supports and sustains my way of living and my need to be constantly learning and exploring. I have done the “regular job” in the past, but I can’t be in one place for too long. I have to be creating and connecting with different kind of people, situations and scenarios to feel inspired and motivated. Sometimes my work is 10-12 hours a day, it can be pretty challenging depending on the production, but I love what I do, and as long as I am in my element, I can do it all day.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am Grecia Salamon, proud latina, born and raised in Caracas-Venezuela and currently living in the beautiful Southern California.
I’ve always been passionate about expressing myself through various forms of art: acting, dancing, hosting, yoga, design, production, etc. I consider myself a multifaceted person. I have been working in the entertainment industry for over a decade and as the years go by, I keep finding myself expanding my skills and creating connection between all my passions.
You can see me on livestreams and shows every week. I produce and host streamings as well as TV shows, social media campaigns and commercials for international and national brands. A lot of my work is focused on the latino-hispanic community in the US and Latinamerica. That’s why you will see me as the on-camera talent for TV stations like Univision or Telemundo, as well as other bilingual productions and events.
After more than five years working for the global brand SHEIN, producing and hosting their weekly online shows, I recently debuted my own livestream, “Latina Holística”, where my mission is to bring awareness on healthy, conscious and sustainable brands/products. You can find my personal store through Market.Live with all the products I recommend during my weekly shows. ‘Latina Holistica’ is a space where I can combine my passion for being on camera but also show brands that I stand by because they are making a positive impact in the world. Feel free to check it out on Tuesdays at 5pm pst.
During my career I have been the face of multiple campaigns including Ulta Beauty, T-Mobile, Harley Davidson, among others, and currently, I am the official ambassador for “Freeway Insurance” in US and Mexico. I also love traveling, exploring and learning from different cultures, that’s why you’ll see me traveling around with my camera, to create content for my personal channels: @VamonosConGrecia, and for international platforms like Tripsst. You can find the latest episodes on my YouTube channel: Grecia Salamon.
My newest and biggest discovery has been that I actually love producing, creating a team and developing strategies for brands to be able to grow and succeed. That’s why I created my own production company, Rous World Productions. We are focused on empowering brands to thrive in the digital age and create memorable in-person events. We specialize in creating compelling media content and executing effective online campaigns.
Besides all my experience in front and behind the cameras, I have always been a yogi and I’ve always been very connected to my spirituality. I am a certified Kundalini instructor and sound healer. I play planetary gongs and have my own holistic events company, Triune Collective, where we put together fantastic events throughout the year that involve different spiritual healing practices for all levels of experience. As I mentioned, I consider myself a multifaceted person and I love making a business out of everything I’m into in the moment, haha. At this point in my life, I only say yes to projects and people that I connect with and learn from. I have learned to say “no” to situations that will drain my energy. Most of my decisions are based on intuition and the overall feeling I have towards it. By having a strong spiritual practice, I am able to connect with my purpose and mission on a daily basis and strengthen my discernment. I used to think that I needed to dedicate myself to only one thing or career, but life has shown me that I can be and build anything I want, that’s why I will continue sharing my gifts.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I feel that being a young immigrant shows a lot of resilience. I definitely had a lot of courage to be able to get to where I am today. At the moment I couldn’t appreciate it, but now I’m able to see the immense inner strength and power that one dream/goal can have.
Just like hundreds of people who fly to LA to “make it in the entertainment industry”, I came with my suitcase and a vision. I wanted to learn and conquer the world. I still do haha, but now my purpose is deeper and based on my personal happiness and not the happiness of others. Now I want to conquer my own world, achieve my own milestones and compete only with the person I was yesterday.
I went through multiple jobs I didn’t like, a lot of abusive relationships, both personal and work related. Struggled with no money, had a very extensive and difficult immigration case, couch surfed for multiple years, drove all over Los Angeles and outside areas to do jobs that didn’t even pay. Met all the casting directors in town and felt rejected over and over again. I struggled to find my own individual voice and self worth, mostly in an industry and environment where everyone highlights your insecurities and weaknesses. It’s not an industry for everyone, that is for sure, but I love where my resilience has taken me. I have definitely turned my weaknesses into strengths.
I admire the people that have been able to stay and grow flowers out of the mud. Each situation has taken me further into my own personal and professional growth and I am thankful for all of it… I feel that my biggest lesson was to realize that I don’t have to give the power to someone else or let anyone else determine my value, so I started creating my own opportunities, my own projects and believing that all these challenges were actually preparing me to become a better version of myself. I realized that my biggest strength is being fully me, all the versions of me, and exploring each one of them with curiosity and love.
My first dream catapulted me forward, but the journey has taught me that I can have multiple dream streams, and actually achieve them all. We live in a society that pushes you to work to be able to enjoy life, but I believe that enjoying life is what creates the frequency that manifests the opportunities that I will enjoy the most, as they will be aligned with who I am and will help me connect with the right people in my life.
After many years of putting myself out there to be seen, I started to see myself how I wanted other ones to see me, and since, I have grown exponentially in my career. I also started caring less and less about the perception of others and started focusing on my own goals and my own process. At the end, we all share stories of struggle, but not everyone is able to get out of the “victim” mindset and start taking responsibility for their own happiness.
I am proud of who I have become, the people around me, my strong family and strong friendships, my amazing work relationships, all the new projects that are currently happening and the ones on the way. I love creating opportunities for others, because I know how hard it is when you are doing it all alone. My friends know that if I go up, they come with me, and there is nothing I love more than creating with other wonderful artists and entrepreneurs.
Resilience may have a negative connotation for many, but for me being resilient means being consistent, disciplined and willing to move forward no matter the circumstances.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
There are books, podcasts, practices and so many things that have and keep supporting my journey. I love studying different practices, meditations, physical activities and learning about everything, from esotericism to finances & investments.
A few books that have helped me grow personally, spiritually and professionally have been:
1. “Conversations with God”. by Neal Donald Walsh
2. “The 5am Club” by Robbin Sharma
3. “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle.
4. “Somos Diosas” by Lucy Romero
5. “”The Gifts of Imperfection” by Brené Brown.
6. “The Kybalion” by Three Initiates.
7. “The subtle art of not giving a fuck” by Mark Manson.
8. Multiple books about Kundalini Yoga and Tantra practices.
These are just 5% of all the books and audiobooks I read for inspiration, guidance and practical self development. This doesn’t include all the hours on personal trainings, spiritual classes and business/entrepreneurship workshops I love taking
Bottomline, I love learning about everything and love reading inspirational stories of successful people.
