Pearl, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Dedication to your set goals. I have learned from growing a social media following from nothing not only once but twice that it takes dedication and continued efforts to achieve your goals. Success does not come on the first try. To be successful in social media, you must continue to post content to grow your following and your fan base.
Pearl, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have been a pet content creator for the past 4 years posting regularly on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube. I started my talent representation agency, Petfluencers Agency, in July 2023. Signed 10+ pet influencers to the agency within the first month of starting. These influencer followings ranged from as small as 200k to as big as 4M+. My talent roster is continuing to grow since I am always adding new influencers. Being a pet influencer myself contributed to my expertise on landing good paying brand deals for my talent representation. I was inspired to start my agency to help other influencers who want more time to focus on their content. I wanted to make sure they were not getting taken advantage of by brands. It’s no secret that many influencers are being underpaid for brand deals, especially pet influencers. We specialize in helping specifically pet influencers and pet brands navigate the influencer world. There are some agencies doing things similar to mine but not many that focus solely on pets. To our influencers, we offer email management including negotiating brand deals, handling all brand collaboration communications and invoicing, accepting PR packages, organizing paid media appearances, merch creation.
To brand clients, we offer campaign strategies and management including creating a custom influencer marketing plan, discovering and contracting influencers, managing campaign execution, and return on investment reporting. We also offer pet PR gifting campaign management as well.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
From October 2019- April 2020, I grew my first social media account TikTok to a following of 413k. Unfortunately, that first account was mistakenly banned in April 2020 back when TikTok didn’t have a good support group to fix the issue.
In May 2020, I started over with a new TikTok account that has now grown to a following of 2.3 million followers called, @pearlsragdolls. After my first account got banned, I wanted to give up. I wanted to stop posting because I was afraid to start over. Those feelings were gone quickly though when I decided to start again. However, I did not have a viral video on my new account until 3 weeks of posting every single day. Resilience to keep trying and keep posting is what got me to where I am at today.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
For my talent agency, I have been able to quickly grow my talent roster of influencers by showing I am trustworthy and on their side. Being an influencer myself, I know what I would want out of a talent agency and I try to offer those same services to my clients.
