We recently connected with Lauren Griffith and have shared our conversation below.
Lauren , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Alright – so having the idea is one thing, but going from idea to execution is where countless people drop the ball. Can you talk to us about your journey from idea to execution?
First, can you give me a brief history of ALMA? ALMA was my great grandmother’s name. That name has always embodied my idea of the West. The building that is now ALMA was an old brothel and when I walked through it, I thought it was the perfect place to house my design business and then the concept kept expanding. ALMA Home is the retail portion of my design business (Lauren Griffith Interiors) and houses our offices and design center that has our tile, cabinets, basically anything we use to design your space. ALMA Away is the experiential side where anyone, clients, vendors, guests (it’s on Airbnb) can stay. It cheeky western décor and it’s curated with antiques I have collected for years, even some of my great grandmother’s pieces. I wasn’t finding anything that fit my aesthetic for my clients so now this building is it and so much more!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
How long have you been in business and where did you get the inspiration for your company? I’ve been in the construction and interior design business for 20 years. Lauren Griffith Interiors has been in business for 9 years. I have always had a love of design. I see inspiration in the landscape, nature, the seasons…everywhere, if you take the time.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Looks like you’re more than just a design business. Tell me about some of the events you host or plan to host. I love entertaining, meeting new people, helping foster new connections and basically any excuse to get together. We recently had a book signing with one of my favorite designers/authors and I hope to do more of that, as well as hosting events that fall under the bracket of art+design+anything that interests me or encourages people to experience our space and feel inspired.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
What does ALMA add to the community? Alma is an experience. Whether you are shopping for thoughtfully collected homegoods, gifts and furniture, staying at the Airbnb for work or pleasure or are coming in to choose selections and meet for a full design project. There’s nothing quite like it!
What are some of Casper’s best qualities? Why do people value living there? Why do people enjoy visiting? The best qualities of Casper are friendly, down to earth people and an affordable lifestyle. We don’t have to deal with traffic and it’s a slower pace of life. The public schools are great and there are plenty of organizations and activities for kids and adults alike. People enjoy visiting for many reasons including our Blue Ribbon fishing, concerts and sporting events.
