We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lit Jones. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lit below.
Lit, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I grew up around music. There was always some kind of music playing at home, because my dad was really into bands and played the drums. To be honest, the beginning is kind of a blur, but I started formal lessons in fifth grade and never really stopped playing. Learning how to read has been a helpful tool, plus being in different ensembles over the years kind of shaped how I notice nuances in music as a listener.
Producing music with artists was a big challenge at first. As a musician. I can create music with little effort, however, everyone’s taste in music is different; It really takes time to know what an artist likes so you can cater to them. Overall, my exposure to various styles might be my biggest asset, because I can relate to more people.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I make music. It’s my life’s soundtrack. If you think about something that connects people, this would be the one thing, It’s a means of expression and communication beyond words.
I’ve been involved in creating music since I was a kid, and I continue to pick up pieces along the way to help paint the world around me. This is how I view every tool that I have, a piece. Software, instruments, influences, life perspectives, are all tools. It’s [my work] a beautiful puzzle that will never be finished; but each piece expands and brings light to the people who witness it.
Hopefully my work will reach you and be inspiration to influence. Here are some of my favorite music influences:
Ryan Leslie, Gorillas, Little Dragon, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Kanye West, Outkast, Flying Lotus, Stevie Wonder, Weather Report
My first album, “Ten Finger Circus” is on all streaming platforms.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I’m driven by the thought of getting better at what I do, and living in the privilege of being able to make music that I love.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
My favorite part of being a musician is the respect people show you when you travel. It’s refreshing to know when something special to you resonates with someone in a different city.
